Let them have it

From the House GOP Conference Secretary’s office:
Democrats Gag Debate on Failure to Follow House Rules

(WASHINGTON, DC) – In an astonishing acceleration of the stifling of debate and transparency in the House, Democrats tonight voted to adjourn and gag the planned special orders speeches of U.S. Representatives John Carter (R-TX) and Steve King (R-IA).

Carter and King had announced they would discuss Democrat Majority Leader Steny Hoyer’s (D-MD) statement that the upcoming health care reform effort would fail if Members were required to read the legislation. House Democrats accordingly silenced floor debate on the issue by voting to close early.

“The Democrats are the majority – for now,â€￾ says Carter, House Republican Conference Secretary. “They chose to silence debate on the floor by gagging House Republican Members from using their historical right to speak after the close of the day. But they cannot stop us from speaking and letting the American public know the truth about their ongoing assault against representative democracy.â€￾

Obama lied, transparency died.

Bill is over 1000 pages long, doubt very seriously if someone has read the entire document. Maybe the Demorats can get another speed reader to read it aloud for everyone..............funny S_it, isn't it !
What is funny is your criticism of people not willing to read it.

Do you really need someone to read it for you?

You demand government for the people, by the people, then are not willing to do your part in finding out what legislation is about.

You are worse than union members who complain about a contract. Then, when asked if they voted on it before reading it, you get a blank stare. Not only did they not read it, but they did not bother to vote.

Complacency breeds incompetence.

Welcome to the club Southwind.

Last time I saw mate, that's what there job is. And yes we have that right to complain about it if they are not doing it properly. You arguement is as absurd as the elected officials reasons for not doing there job. Simply pulling an excuse out their bum and berating those who call them on it. Mama Pelosi would be proud.

You make this statement and your elected officials vote on bills that they have not read in any extreme and you castigate F4A?

How can one read these bills beforehand when the most transparent administration since Moses who promised to display them online some five or more days before the vote has come due has failed in this promise miserably and totally?

Your elected officials vote they way they are pressured by Pelosi and Reid and not to the will of the people who elected them.

Your elected officials worry more about preserving control than the good of the country and you sit idly by....?

Your party and foreign born President ridicule American Patriots for their opposition and reluctance to onerous and unnecessary tax burdens upon the citizens of this great country by holding Constitutionally supported protests only to have the State media put these protests down and refer to them as 'Tea bagging' while in bed with the Whitehouse.

You make reference to union contracts and no one reading them? While employed at US Air for eighteen years and serving as a shop steward eight of those years I can assure you the majority of those affected read or attended meetings related to the content of those contracts.

HERE, HERE!!!!! Well said, Dell. That post sums it up.

BTW, Dell. I hope you don't resemble your Avatar......

Any representative that votes on legislation they have not read (or had their staff read), is not doing their job.

Show me these bills that have not been available to read.

That is strictly onpinion, not fact. If it is please prove it. Also, I am quite sure that republicans are never pressured by the party leaders to vote a certain way...

That is only a democratic trait???

I never questioned you or your union standards, which are aligned with mine. I am glad your brothers and sisters at USAir were active in the local. That is certainly not the case in the early and mid 2000's at most airlines. That is obvious by the bend over and take it mentality that was pervasive during that time (with the exception of us NWA AMT's). You see how the other unions gave it to us during that deal. By the way, what was the percentage of people who cast ballots on ratification votes. At NWA it was never more than 75%. Unreal.

Remember, the original post was in response to Southwind, not you.

Dont bother sweating it, tingles2101 has a problem letting go to dope and change.

An American government health-care system you should know:

Over the last few months, as Barack Obama’s plans to transform the health-care industry in America have proceeded, I have written extensively on the two existing government-run health-care systems and their myriad problems: Medicare/Medicaid and the VA. It seems I missed a third that may be worse than either or perhaps both combined. Mary Clare Jalonick of the Associated Press provides an eye-opening report on Indian Health Service, a single-payer system that rations care to Native Americans on reservations across the country — and kills them through neglect and a severe lack of resources:

On some reservations, the oft-quoted refrain is “don’t get sick after June,†when the federal dollars run out. It’s a sick joke, and a sad one, because it’s sometimes true, especially on the poorest reservations where residents cannot afford health insurance. Officials say they have about half of what they need to operate, and patients know they must be dying or about to lose a limb to get serious care.

Wealthier tribes can supplement the federal health service budget with their own money. But poorer tribes, often those on the most remote reservations, far away from city hospitals, are stuck with grossly substandard care. The agency itself describes a “rationed health care system.â€

The sad fact is an old fact, too.

The U.S. has an obligation, based on a 1787 agreement between tribes and the government, to provide American Indians with free health care on reservations. But that promise has not been kept. About one-third more is spent per capita on health care for felons in federal prison, according to 2005 data from the health service.

Without a doubt, the people on the reservations represent some of the poorest of the poor in America. Yet we already have a single-payer system in place to provide health care to Native Americans on these reservations. Do we properly fund it? Do we make sure that enough resources are applied to ensure good health care? Not at all. It is, as the agency itself describes, a system of rationing medical resources, and the end result is a poor population unable to seek out its own care locked into a system that only works when someone is on death’s door.

In fact, as Jalonick reports, it often doesn’t recognize when a patient faces death. Jalonick profiles the heartrending case of Ta’Shon Rain Little Light, who began complaining of stomach pains at the age of 5, and stopped eating and playing. The overwhelmed clinic diagnosed her as depressed, and ten subsequent visits to the clinic over the next several months while Ta’Shon’s symptoms worsened didn’t change the diagnosis. Only when she suffered a collapsed lung did IHS airlift her to Denver, where Ta’Shon was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Could it have been treated? We’ll never know, thanks to a diagnostic service that appears to be just above the wild-guess level on the reservation.

When government owns the nation’s health-care system, we can all look forward to the same level of care. After all, as Obama himself insists, a government-run system will “save costs,†but he never explains how those costs get saved. We will all go into the rationing-system grinder, just as veterans do with the VA, seniors and disabled do with Medicare, and Native Americans do with IHS.

So now it appears Obama comes clean, that even with his half baked scheme, Obamacare will still fall short of covering everyone. Just as everyone expected by a tune of 35 million.

Obama tells CBS News he supports mandate for all to have health insurance, with hardship waivers.

Show me these bills that have not been available to read.

During the campaign, Barack Obama promised to post every bill that passed Congress online for five days before signing the legislation, to give the public a chance to comment.

If true then the GOP isn't very adept at it wouldn't you agree?

With love from Harry and Nancy.....

(CNSNews.com) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) will not give the public a week to review the final text of a health-care reform bill before it is voted on later this year.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D.-Nev.) has also declined to commit to giving the public a week to read and consider the final health-care bill.

Little twisting of words and purpose to fit the frame.......

Gets better and better....

The current House health care bill would make individual private medical insurance illegal and obliterate the market for individual coverage, opponents warn.
