From USMAA AFA:
---------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Flight Attendants-
As you know, I met with the company for the past two days to discuss the
sale of MidAtlantic to Republic, and what that means for us. The Company
presented me with an overview of what Republic has to offer us, as flight
attendants, applying to work for them. I have attached the document for you to
download and print. If you have trouble downloading it or opening it, please
let
me know and I will send it in the body of an email.
I will be straight forward with you when I tell you, that it is NOT in any
way, an attractive package for us. In a nutshell, we would basically have the
option to interview. If elected for employment, training is approximately 3
weeks long. If their new tentative contract ratifies, training will be paid
at minimum wage/3 weeks. You will not know if you will be flying for
Republic, Chautauqua or Shuttle America until the end of your training.
Dependant
upon who you fly for dictates what aircraft you will be flying on. We are
not gauranteed to fly our EMB 170's.
With those few things being said about Republic the Company realizes that
Flight Attendants will/may consider looking outside of MidAtlantic for other
employment. The Company has approached us with an incentive package of various
different items that they are willing to give to the Flight Attendants to not
only help with this difficult transition but to also ensure that the
MidAtlantic Operation is not compromised during the transition period. The
items
that are being discussed to incentivise will be in finalized by the end of next
week or the beginning of the week following.
When speaking to Jerry Glass regarding this transition, his comment to me
was, "During this difficult time, we want to make it as easy and smooth as
possible. If the Flight Attendants will hang on they will get something. If
they leave now, they will get nothing".
As this process progresses, a/c will be leaving MAA at a few per month.
When the a/c leave, a certain number of flight attendants will be furloughed
with the a/c. This will take place monthly until the last a/c have gone.
The Company is currently discussing alternatives to doing reverse involuntary furlough initially by allowing more senior people to leave voluntarily first, thus saving the position of a junior flight attendant. In the interim, if you stay until you are furloughed, you will have two
opportunites to gain 1. monetary incentives (being discussed) and 2. Company
incentives (being discussed).
As difficult and trying as this may be for all of us, we still have a job to
do, if we so choose. The decision is up to each and every one of you, which
of course is based on your individual needs.
I will be following up with a letter in every Flight Attendants mailbox
along with a copy of the Outline from Republic. I will also put out a Q&A that
will answer most of the questions submitted by various FA's through the past
several days. A handful of questions have been submitted to the Company for
further review with Republic. As I receive answers back from the Company, I
will forward them to the Flight Attendant group.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call me.

I wonder what they will offer the F/As to get them to stay... do I smell credited longevity towards mainline?
