More Progressive Liberty Robbing Actions

And maybe those that take 'responsibility' for themselves, and blame government when they fail, took too many beatings to the head.

Your success is always the result of your own diligence, your failures are always some one else's fault.

I don't think you've ever heard that flawed logic above from me have you?

I'm where I am right now solely because of my actions, actually inaction. Seems I threw in with a woman who was a heroin addict and you don't see me running to the Government for help

And who elected them? The people, that's why we live in a Republic and not a democracy. Big difference.

Or differences are becoming crystal clear. You believe that Government holds the answers to a better society. I believe the individual through his/her own endeavors makes the world a better place.

Oh and for the record Rosa Parks flipping off the system happened the year I was born, 1954, Bus boycott a few years later. It took Congress TEN YEARS from Rosa Parks to Civil Rights legislation and the actions of Rose Parks did far more to galvanize opposition to and the ultimate end of segregation than the Civil Rights act ever did. Additionally the Federal Government generally sat on it's lilly white arse while lynchings, intimidation and church bombing continued unabated as did Klan activity.

Nope it's people power that drives change, look at the budget battle. Do you really think if there had not been a strong element of Tea Party activism that it would not have been business as usual instead of the drama we had? Bob Dylan sais it best, "The Times They Are a Changing" and it's looking like if you're a progressive today is not your day and your day ain't coming soon.

You are correct that the government would not have taken action had some of the people not risen up. Ho ever the people would not have enacted the legislation were it up to them. Look at the crowd that was in front of Little Rock Central High. I am pretty sure they would not have voted in favor of it.

I believe in people. It's that simple, Oh and for the record YOU are the public and frankly I found your comment typical of the elitist arrogance of the Liberal/Progressives who think the world would be a better place if only we would all just listened and did what they tell us to do, after all it's for our own good right?

It must be nice to live in your black and white world where government is evil and the people are all.... who knows what. You call me elitist and yet you are the one who wants to do away with public education and as far as I can tell every other form of public assistance. Can't afford to educate your children, too bad. Guess you should not have had them. Can't afford health care or insurance, too bad. You should work harder.

The world is not black and white. Government is not all bad. I no more believe that government has all the answers than I believe that people will do the right thing or that corporations will. I'm not sure what world you live in but I live in a world where people signed leases for homes they never could have afforded. I live in a world where people go to Mc'D's, get fat and then sue because it is not their fault. I live in a world where Ford purposely did not put a $12 part in a car and let people die because they thought it would be cheaper that way. Read the National Geographic surveys they have each year. I live in a world where a huge percentage of people have no idea where Iran, Iraq or Israel are. The do not know their state reps or Sen. The do not know who the Pres/VP are. And you have faith in the people. That's rich.

And I live in a world where people are so gullible , they elect people like this, time and time again :

Nancy Pelosi

As a result of a Judicial Watch filing under the Freedom of Information Act, the USAF released documents detailing House Speaker Pelosi's use of United States Air Force aircraft between March 2009 and June 2010. The data are published in the Judicial Watch Verdict of December 2010, Volume 16, Issue 12.
Here are the main highlights revealed by the USAF. Keep in mind that all the data below relate to United States Air Force aircraft used by one woman over a sixteen month period.

Several of these flights included Ms Pelosi's guests such as grown children, grandchildren, various in-laws, friends, and hangers-on. Over 95% of the trips were between the west coast and Washington, DC or what we might call a commute between home and the office.

Total trips: 85 trips over a 68 week period or 1.25 average trips per week.

Total mileage: 206,264 miles or 2,427 average miles per trip

Total flying time: 428.6 hours or an average of 5 hrs per trip

Cost to the taxpayers: $2,100,744.59 or $27,715.00 per trip or $1,285,162.00 per year

Cost of in flight food and alcohol: $101,429.14 or $1,193.00 per trip or $62,051.00 per year.

On one junket to Baghdad, according to the Air Force report, she had the aircraft bar stocked with Johnny Walker Red Scotch, Grey Goose Vodka, E&J Brandy, Bailey's Irish Creme, Maker's Mark whiskey, Courvoisier Cognac, Bacardi Rum, Jim Beam Whiskey, Beefeater Gin, Dewars Scotch, Bombay Sapphire Gin, Jack Daniels Whiskey, Corona Beer and several varieties of wine. This was obviously a very important "gubment bidness" trip.

Evidence generally speaks for itself, and in Ms. Pelosi's case it speaks the language of abuse and (evidently) a serious familial drinking problem, for in a single year she and her spawn drank an amount in excess of the net income of the average employed American! When she said, "... if the stimulus doesn't pass, five hundred million people might lose their jobs...", I thought she was unintentionally revealing her ignorance. I'm now more inclined to think she was pickled.

Even though she can no longer abuse the USAF, she can either fly on her broom, or fly Southwest Airlines, where bags fly free.

Yea yea. We get it. Republicans good, democrats bad. Blah blah blah.

I wish they would put some of these rooks in jail already.
