Just got done talking with Bart in Tempe, He said that US was think about a program similar to NK must ride oversales protection insurance. still working on the detail and if and when. Bart said that US said it might work and bring in $$$ and reduce oversales to for workable levels to make a small profit and reduce the lost on comp and rebookingand or overnight stays

If I'm reading the OP correctly, in English it means "we are going to sell you a ticket to ride on a certain date on a certain flight. Now, since we routinely sell more tickets for each flight than there are seats on the plane, if you wish we will also sell you some insurance that you will actually get a seat on that flight on that date." You'll pay a premium for overbooking protection. People who don't would be subject to being bumped if a flight is oversold. That's how I read it anyway.

So we sell you a ticket at a certain priority, then sell you insurance to not get bumped? Isn't that the same as buying a higher priority ticket, but with an extra (not to mention unnecessary and embarrassing) fee? Oh, that explains it. Another fee, and one that's untaxed to boot!
