Tonite we had a meeting consisting of new work rule changes beginning ASAP.
This meeting was held by our local union in our shop. We were told beginning on DOS we will no longer be allowed to bring cell phones to work period. No communication devices or electronic devices allowed in the gates. All chairs will be disposed of with the exception of the crew chiefs and supervisions chairs. At break time we will use picnic benches. DWMS will be used within 30 minutes of start time to clock in all labor. If you do not clock in labor at anytime it will be instant coach and counseling. Second time you will be terminated. All lockers will be disposed of regardless of personal or company use. They went as far as to say if you finish your job and the plane is on engine run-up. If you are not assigned to the run-up crew. You may be asked to be sent home until the following work day. This is just the highlights that came out of our meeting tonite. The union said this is system wide changes not just our shop. Needless to say the meeting was very heated.

We were also told they hired two reps to monitor employee comments about the company on public websites. Facebook and twitter were the two sites mentioned in the meeting.

And that post begs the question:

"Why is the union carrying the companies water again"?

I mean shouldn't this type of information be communicated by those that would have to enforce that type of change?

Maybe nobody was signing up for the early out and they want to scare someone into leaving?

We had a meeting a well but with a supervisor he too also talked of drastic changes but didn't get to as many specifics but he did say chairs are gone, breaks lunches with a whistle ect.

What do chairs and picnic tables have to do with AA restructuring? Seems unnecessary to replace existing furniture with picnic tables.

Great. In case they're on here as well, here's my opinion:

If AA thinks this is as good of time as any to be punitive, they're making a catastrophic error.

Nothing. Seems excessive and unecessaery to me, and serves no point other than to kick people when they're down. They should be focused on getting the carrier back on track- if chairs are the issue, AA is in a lot worse trouble than any of us thought...

So the chairs are being "disposed" of? Seems pretty ridiculous if they are doing it just to make things unpleasant for you guys. What will happen to the $400 Ergonomic chairs purchased last year?

From what I heard this afternoon AA can afford 7000 new ergonomic chairs. At AFW, facility maintenance was assembeliing their part of the chairs and the price tag was still on the chairs. It was a mere $400 per chair. I could understand this if the the chairs that they were replacing were not in good shape, but that is not the case and afterall isn't AA cash strapped and can't afford anything like pay raises. Since the ivory tower (Headquarters) trolls this site maybe they could confirm who authorized this purchase. I here that the purchase order came straight from the ivory tower.

^this^

or many have wanted to admit... for years.

Some of the greatest civilizations did not fall due to attacks from outside, but because they collapsed internally.

This sounds like BS... Clarify what station your are at, whom the meeting were conducted with and what department are you in..
