A Minneapolis/St. Paul-based support associate asked what the airline may look like in five years.

"We'll be a strong and independent airline, with anticipated growth of 3-4 percent in block hours a year," said Anderson. "If you look at opportunities, we have good opportunities for expansion and we have strong assets. We need to take steps to improve our business model. Overall, we have strong assets at our hubs and with cargo. Properly deployed, these assets can position us as a viable airline for the long term."

Interesting that he says "strong, independent" all the while touting the wonders of alliances. Suppose I gotta go over to Radar, and see what else he had to say before I comment more.....

My guess is that "independent" would mean not relying on gov't backed loans for survival.
