Occupational Outlook

While the average rate of growth for all jobs in the American economy over the next decade is 14 percent, the Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that employment growth among aircraft mechanics will not even be half that, projecting a growth rate of just 6 percent between 2010 and 2020. Competition is expected to be strong because airlines are outsourcing aircraft maintenance work to technicians in other countries who work for less. Mechanics who hold a bachelor's degree are expected to have the best employment prospects.

This does not have to be your future.

Time for a change.

Why do you care, you're retired
I am not retired. I am only 38.

I care because I care about my country. I care about skilled jobs going overseas. I care about (some) of my ex coworkers being treated fairly.I care because air traffic safety is important. I have a lot of other reasons to care.

What you should be asking is why some of these others DON'T CARE.

I am not "flame baiting".

What I am trying to do is light a fire under your ass so you take some active participation in your future instead of taking a passive role and letting the TWU lead you down the road of ruin.

Call it "creative motivation".
