It was recently announced that Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize of 2009.
This seems a bit premature. It cannot be based upon substantive accomplishments (as CNN puts it), but rather, could only be based upon the yet-to-be-seen scenario/hypothetical where his efforts succeeded. Of course, the Nobel Committee does a run-around by noting that it is due to his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples." I think the committee should, at the very least, await the results of such efforts.
