Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

It was recently announced that Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize of 2009.

This seems a bit premature. It cannot be based upon substantive accomplishments (as CNN puts it), but rather, could only be based upon the yet-to-be-seen scenario/hypothetical where his efforts succeeded. Of course, the Nobel Committee does a run-around by noting that it is due to his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples." I think the committee should, at the very least, await the results of such efforts.

First Yasser Arafat in '94 and now this. I was totally opposed to W's regime change in Iraq and couldn't stand the dirty tricks of Karl Rove. What the Nobel committee did today was short sighted and has now politized what was once considered a valueable prize. Had coffee this am with a very good friend who makes Reagan and Goldwater look like communiststs. I literally thought that he was going to hit someone. I know that most of the liberal europeans have been stewing for the past 8 years, as well as many americans but I think that this gives too much ammunition, espically if things don't work out.

It's a shame that the other folks that have been working for years and producing good results were overlooked and it was awarded for a few fancy words.

I agree. This falls in the bizarre category. I think this even took the President by surprise.

Its more about supposedly inspiring hope in the world (in lieu of real change) and appeasement. The (Socialist) Noble lost its credibility ages ago when they would dole out the awards to Carter and terrorists like Arafat. Now he is amongst the worst of the worst, Woodrow Wilson, Roosevelt, Carter. In fact you could say he even out Carter'd Carter!

This will further his agenda of selling out the USA.

Just like his entire political career, rises through the ranks and recieves awards by doing absolutely nothing to deserve it !

Gasps echoed through the Nobel Hall in Oslo yesterday as Barack Obama was unveiled as the winner of the 2009 Peace Prize, sparking a global outpouring of incredulity and praise in unequal measure.

Gasps.......

But Lech Walesa, the dissident turned Polish President, who won the Peace Prize in 1983, spoke for many, declaring: “So soon? Too early. He has no contribution so far.â€￾ Mr Obama’s domestic critics leapt on the award as evidence of foreigners fawning over an untested “celebrityâ€￾ leader. Rush Limbaugh, the US right-wing commentator, said: “This fully exposes the illusion that is Barack Obama."

You know Dude, had you quit with the Walesa quote, you would have done fine; but you had to include Rush Limbaugh to remove all credibility from your post.

You got a lotta nerve questioning credbility Squire......

Unless you read the article.......you'd know it was in it..................

Ok, I guess we need to do this slowly tonight. Here is what I posted:

What was the above?

Nobel Losers Who Were Just Not Good Enough...

Chinese Human Rights Activist Hu Jia - imprisoned for campaigning for human rights in the PRC, not as worthy as Barack Hussein Obama.

Wei Jingsheng, who spent 17 years in Chinese prisons for urging reforms of China's communist system. -- not as worthy as Barack Hussein Obama. (Not to mention the symbolic value of awarding a Chinese dissident on the 20th Anniversary of the Tianenmen Square Massacre.)

Greg Mortenson, founder of the Central Asia Institute has built nearly 80 schools, especially for girls, in remote areas of northern Pakistan and Afghanistan over the past 15 years - not as worthy as Barack Hussein Obama.

Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, a philosophy professor in Jordan who risks his life by advocating interfaith dialogue between Jews and Muslims, also not as worthy as Barack Hussein Obama.

Afghan human rights activist Sima Samar. She currently leads the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission and serves as the U.N. special envoy to Darfur and is apparently also not as worthy as Barack Hussein Obama.

What do all of the above have in common? Courage, dedication and scars on their back...

What do none of them have? A hot line to George Soros and a crease in their pants sharp enough to excite David Brooks...and this guy.

Which Roosevelt are you talking about?
