**......BOY, they REALLY like the Ol' PORK in Mississippi. Wonder HOW thats sitting w/Gov. HALEY BARBOUR

No surprise at # 3-7.

President of the UNITED STATES, Barack Obama is now "two for two"..in getting Major bills passed.

GOP hypocracy...at it's BEST :bleh:

Speaking of LARGE PORKERS, I can't WAIT until Noon time today, to listen to RUSH BIMBO  :mf_boff:

Bears, you've turned into a real piece of work in your retirement... go down a Geritol or two....

There are earmarks, and there is pork. Earmarks serve the public good. Pork is wasteful.

About 2% of the spending bill is earmarks.

Over $40M was earmarked for Democratic Presidential Libraries. Pure pork.

Mississippi's earmarks go towards eliminating invasive plant and wildlife. They're also less than the $2M going to research the smell of pig (pork) manure (ironic, eh?) in Iowa.

Didn't "The Annoited One" say he would not pass any Pork, err......................Earmarks when elected POTUS!
And now he's telling teachers they will have to earn their keep and their precious unions won't save them !

50 days and already back-peddling} a new world record !

Democrat..............just another word for mediocracy !

Trust me..southwind,.....while it "might" be possible to get the EFCA through this time around, it would be very very close.
A much safer bet will be AFTER the 2010 Pick Up of at the very least 5/6 Senate seats(+ Franken), that the UNION issues will be dealt with.

In the rare chance that BO is beat in 2012, at least the law will be on the books.

Ps,
If your on the east coast(like me), since it's currently..10:36A, that means that YOU and I, only have to wait 1:24 minutes before the...."B I G ...PORKER(Rush Bimbo) comes on, to "howl" against yesterdays passage of another $410 BILLION bill that.. 8 Repubs. HELPED pass,(and in the interim, help us Democrats gain even MORE of a foothold in congress, because of your SERIOUS...I L L....GOP.)

WHAT a COUNTRY

Yeah and maybe Franken can tell jokes that aren't funny, like he always has and perform magic tricks, like he did to win his election !

Hey Bears, why no comment on Obama supporter Warren Buffett coming out against EFCA??...

Current estimates show EFCA may actually cost 500,000-600,000 jobs in the US, either as companies "threatened" by unionization stop expanding, shut down and/or pre-emptively outsource/offshore work.

Net result will be a lot like when minimum wage was raised -- many small business owners simply cut back on hiring to make up the cost difference...

E,
I have a LOT of respect for Mr. BUFFETT, he's a good and honest man,...but it IS what it IS.
He's.."one of THEM". Simple as that !

As it stands right NOW, the Democrats stand to pick up a significant number of Senate seats in 2010.
When THAT happens,..if the EFCA is not on the books in 09/10, you can "GO to the BANK" that it WILL be on the books in 2011. While the unions won't admit it, it's not the (real small) business's that there going after. It's all the Medium/Large business's(think Wal-Mart/Home depots, Huge supermarket chains etc. that they're gunning for,...And It WILL HAPPEN !

A TON of these.."Capitalism at ANY cost" small business owners, talk a good game, about shutting down(and surely 50% could very well), but there is an ol' saying on the street(where I come from) that "Money TALKS, and BULL SHET WALKS". When you SEE these "titans of business" close their doors, ONLY then will you know that they "walked the walk" !!!

Sorry E, it IS what it IS !!!

In Utah, they will be voting on the following constitutional amendment during the 2010 elections:

"The right of individuals to vote by secret ballot is fundamental. Where state or federal law requires elections for public office or public votes on initiatives or referenda, or designations or authorizations of employee representation, the right of individuals to vote by secret ballot shall be guaranteed."

There are moves afoot in 12 other states to have similar ballot initiatives, including AZ, OK, FL, and NV.

Something tells me that the unions will have an uphill battle trying to oppose those initiatives, even in blue states.

You continue to make your delirious predictions, despite your proven inability to see the future... I think your crystal ball has gone a bit hazy, old timer. (Remember your "guarantee" that Hillary would be POTUS?) So do yourself a favor and stop devaluing your opinion!

When you see these small business owners, or "titans of business" close their doors - then it will already be too late. The wheels of the economic engine will cease, and Unions won't matter because there will be no management to fight them.

As far as the earmarks and pork go, I am somewhat disappointed, although not surprised, that Obama signed that loaded bill into law. However, he was backed into a corner as much as he could be - the question is, how much more will he use that excuse in the future?

EFCA will close 634 Catholic Hospitals if it goes through...13% of US hospital capacity.

Your party is insuring a Conservative grass roots revival.Beware of the sleeping giant.

WOW E, BIG intelligent post .

Like telling me, that states that I wouldn't be "caught dead in" because of their state politics(like OKIE-HOMA, Florida, Arizona. Next, Ya'll will be telling me about AL/MS/LA/GA/SC/TN/KY/AK/TX/KS/NE/SD/WY !!!!!
BEWARE the states with Democratic controlled legislatures, or states were the Democratic Governor(s) have VETO pens(in Fine working order)

As for Nevada, THAT is being driven by the powerful Casino lobby.

This "sounds like typical..."Right to work state law"..BS(NO surprise there)

DELL, as for hospitals,................The SEIU is making BIG gains in NY(No surprise), MD/CT/MA/RI/NJ...Even New Hamp-shaaaaa, and Maine, for unionizing Nurses(my ol' lady is a Nurse).
In that regard, I'm guessing that (perhaps the NEXT two states will be VT, and.... P A.( )

NOW, start answering my......."A QUIZ" question...you "Usual suspects". I SEE the "view" numbers(of the post) going up + up. GROW a PAIR, and "take a shot" !!

LETTER FROM THE BOSS......

As the CEO of this organization, I have resigned myself to
the fact that Barrack Obama is our President and that our taxes and
government fees will increase in a BIG way. To compensate for these increases,
our prices would have to increase by about 10%.

But since we cannot increase our prices right now due to
the dismal state of the economy, we will have to lay off six of our
employees instead. This has really been bothering me, since I believe we are family
here and I didn't know how to choose who would have to go.

So, this is what I did. I walked through our parking lot
and found six Obama bumper stickers on our employees' cars and have
decided these folks will be the ones to let go. I can't think of a more
fair way to approach this problem. They voted for change; I gave it to them.

I will see the rest of you at the annual company picnic.

Interestingly enough Nude Hampster has a very large Libertarian Party presence, to the point of having IIRC several elected to the state assembly. The Libertarians have an interesting view on unions.

From the Libertarian Party Platform:

"We support repeal of all laws which impede the ability of any person to find employment. We oppose government-fostered forced retirement. We support the right of free persons to associate or not associate in labor unions, and an employer should have the right to recognize or refuse to recognize a union. We oppose government interference in bargaining, such as compulsory arbitration or imposing an obligation to bargain."

On the surface this seems blatantly anti-union. However ponder life without the RLA restricting your right to strike. Removal of forced arbitration. In many ways unionism would be sent back to the times when they were making their largest gains. Secondary strikes would be allowed and think of the pressure that would put on corporations. Freedom and Liberty both personal and financial functions best when government gets out of the way. Yes it can get messy but the alternative is the USSR and we know what happened there.

YUP, Piney,.......a LOT of LIBO's here(Not the worst thing in the world, I'll admit)...But THANK GOD, this lil' state, home of the DISGRACEFUL...Manchester Union Leader (news paper) has FINALLY ridden itself of GOP dominance. Of the 5 TOP Politicians,...................Governor, 1 senator and 2 'reps are (D's). Only ol' Senator Judd Gregg is left. ........Should our Governor John Lynch(who has favorable numbers HIGH like BO) decide to run for Gregg's seat in 2010, ol' Gregg will be...D. O. A.(like the last lil' ® Turd we jettison'd, John Sununu jr.)
