Smoke Prompts American Airlines Jet to Make Emergency Landing

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- An American Airlines flight made an emergency landing because of smoke in the cabin, and four people were treated at a hospital, authorities said.
The plane was en route from Dallas-Fort Worth to Newark, N.J., late Thursday, airport spokeswoman Rande Swann said. There were 123 passengers and five crew members on board, the airline said.

FORT WORTH, Texas -- An American Airlines flight from Seattle bound for Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport lost a tire on takeoff, officials said.

Flight 1276 arrived at D/FW at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday and landed without incident.

A ramp worker noticed one of the two front tires was missing and the plane was stopped near Terminal D. The airline contacted officials at the Seattle/Tacoma International Airport who said they found the missing tire on the runway.

The passengers were removed from the aircraft and bused to the terminal.

There were no reported injuries.
