..." the former Florida governor said. Then he added: "Look, stuff happens and the impulse is always to do something and it's not necessarily the right thing to do."

Actually agree, with reason.

Then in the Q&A he goes right back to the "finding a way to keep those who might have mental problems from getting guns.." narrative being espoused by the radical right and very mainstream press.

All of them Knowing full well both that such measures will never happen, as and that they would require universal psychological testing of all gun owners and purchasers - and still leave the guns in the hands of those who acquire them illegally.

Political Double Speak at its finest.

Im not a big Jeb bush fan, but the hysterics over what he said out of context is pretty fricken ridiculous.

But that's the looney left for you.....

Now carry on with your regularly scheduled hysterics.

Nothing hysterical

I have said and said again, what he said about the govt not needing to "do something" is agreeble, with in reason.

In this topic, if we want to have freedoms, we are goimg to have violence, accidents, etc.

That is what it is.

The double-speak is the "we have to find a way... Mental illness... Etc.." Pablum being spouted by the NRA, the right wing mainstream media, and, now, Jeb

I agee with the first part. He should have worded it differently. To say "stuff happens" after 10 peolle are murdered makes for a really bad sound bite and that will haunt him if he makes it past the primaries.

We live in a violent society where guns are readly availabe to anyone who wants one. I do not see any realistic way of putting that genie back in the bottle. statistically the odds are against getting shot.

Politicians say stupid things. What else is new.

Double speak at it's finest:

Jeb Bush now:

Look, stuff happens. Theres always a crisis and the impulse is always to do something, and its not necessarily the right thing to do.

A child drowned in a pool and the impulse is to pass a law that puts fencing around pools, he said...

Jeb Bush May 2000:

After the House voted 109-8 for the bill on Friday, Preston met Gov. Jeb Bush, who committed to signing a bill that requires new pool owners to pick a way to keep unsupervised children out of the water.
