How much longer can HP continue to lose money with RJ's in a LCC cost structure? And the added RJ's in the US Express fleet makes the situation that much more dire. No other LCC has proven that RJ's fit in the LCC model. Will HP/US continue to do business as they have in the past or will they try to more closely pattern themselves after other successful LCC's and dump the RJ's. There won't be any fat to subsidize the losses at Express and tieing themselves financially to one of these carriers could sink any chance of success the merged carriers may have had.
I hope they elect to lose some cities and concentrate on high frequency between high yielding cities. If that means point-to-point then that's what they'll have to try.
If the service is outstanding (and it must be from day one) and the price is good, people will be eager to drive to where they can catch a HP/US flight.
