... was on US306 PHL-DUB and we had an engine failure and ended up making an emergency landing into Halifax, Nova Scotia. We flew on one engine for about 70 miles...
Rumor has it the a/c that replaced it was the new long range R/J that seats 280.What a great deal with this new R/J.It's config for 1 pilot,1 f/a,and ETOPS !!!!
"Gibson said that the pilot told passengers that they were about 70 to 80 miles from Halifax and 'not to worry, we're trained for this and will land shortly.' "
And upper management wants to cut this pilot's pension?!
This is a great example of a tremendous, professional pilot turning a possible riot into a routine landing. Kudos to the crew and the way they handled the situation. And yes, the management of this company wants to kill these guys careers. The managers should WISH they had talent like this. Good job guys....you make us proud.

CAT 111,
Wait until you see the NEXT GENERATION OF RJ''S, No Pilots, all first class and smiling hard working F/a''s.
It was not what happened to 654US, that airplane had an uncontained engine failure. 651US engine is believed to have one of the compressors in a stage go bad.
