A little early, since we really won't see the major winter schedule updates put in until early August, but they will start trickling in. Check here for updates, and add anything else you find.

I hate to load skis right after the worst and that is golf clubs. I know, I know, revenue and all, but I wish they would out law golf bags and skis. Then all airlines would shun them and rentals would go up for the local resorts.

This is actual a summer change, but, none the less...

Atlanta-Nashville ends 1 July 2005
Nashville-Tri Cities ends 30 July 2005

The former, while definitley an odd route, was subsidized by BellSouth. Both routes were operated by RegionsAir.

Also, O'Hare-Calgary service ends 2 October 2005.

You would think that all the new summer routes would be uploaded, but nope.

Daily Dallas-Chattanooga (ER4) and Miami-Cincinnati (ERD; currently SaSu only) service start 1 August 2005.

MAH4546,

I read something about Recife a while back that seemed strange, and I can't remember where I read it. The article was talking about departure taxes It mentioned Recife and having a progressively larger departure tax, the longer you stayed. It was done to discourage people from staying too long, and keeping the area more exclusive. Is this true? You seem to be someone who would know.

Sorry AAviator, but I don't know anything about such taxes. They sound odd, though.

Also, new destination for AA: Colombia, South Carolina, with RJ service from Dallas. 30 October 2005.

New daily MD80 service between Los Angeles and San Antonio starts 15 December 2005. AA used to fly this route in the 1990s.

And Miami-Montevideo has been moved foward by six weeks. First flight is now on Halloween.

ORD-DEL is now in the system.

So is LAX-SAT 1x per day -- considering SAT is the second largest city in Texas, it's about time they got some new point to point service.

Second largest city, but third largest market, with Houston and Dallas being significantly larger, more than double the size.

Also, additional service to Jamaica, DCA, and Chile from Miami.

MIA-KIN goes 3x daily 30Oct05
MIA-MBJ goes 4x daily 15Dec05
MIA-SCL goes 10w 15Dec05
MIA-DCA goes 8x daily 30Oct05

Second? According to the 2000 census (which are the numbers that count when money is being distributed), the city of Dallas is still about 40-45,000 larger than the city of San Antonio. And, the SMSA for SA couldn't be larger. The Dallas SMSA is larger than the Houston SMSA. Dallas and Ft. Worth are counted together in one SMSA. Houston doesn't even get to include Galveston in its SMSA.

But, I'm glad to see the point to point service for them. Now, if we could just get service for BHM to ORD and LGA! When my sister flew to Istanbul earlier this year from ORD on an AA codeshare (Turkish), she had to fly UEx to ORD from BHM. Lost revenue. She said that several people on the flight were connecting in ORD to AA/AA codeshare International flights!

BHM-ORD is in the cards, but BHM-MIA will be coming first.

AA's plan is to connect just about domestic every station to Dallas, Chicago, and Miami, where it makes logical sense (therefore you won't be seeing MIA-RNO or DFW-SBA, but you will be seeing ORD-GSO and MIA-MKE).

Have to go find the source, but growth supposedly has finally pushed SAT over DAL at some point in the past six months.

I'm too lazy to do any further research, but this link says that SAT is larger than Dallas and is now the second largest city, as of 1/05.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Antonio

Yeah, the SMAs of both Dallas and Houston are much larger, but San Antonio has become a very large city. Eighth largest in the USA.

Found it.... Also of note where Dallas's MSMA is concerned -- eight of the ten largest cities within the Dallas MSMA actually went down in population from 2003 to 2004, so growth there has been flat to negative.

Nation's 25 largest cities

1. New York 8,104,079
