Last week we reported that usairways.com had hit a record in daily revenue on Sept. 25 for $9.7M. On Monday, Oct. 2, that record was broken as we reached $10.1M in revenues! This is a 4 percent increase week over week and a 23 percent increase year over year. The percent of US Airways total revenue sold on usairways.com has also been growing at 23.8%, up .7 pts week over week increasing.

Boggles the mind as to just how much MORE could be booked if the thing worked right.

From another point of view the more people book through the web site and avoid the GDS's, the more money US gets to keep. They charge an arm and a leg for every booking.

The future is more toward fewer res agents working simple bookings and handling more complex tasks.

WN steers as much as possible to their website and keeps off the GDSs. As a consequence they have to focus more on advertising to sell a ticket since they won't pop up on orbitz or an agency computer.

Many people don't even look at anything besides southwest.com

As a result they have no clue that in some, not all instances they do not offer the lowest fare.
