Have learned today that a letter has or will imminently be sent to the Department of Labor and to Capitol Hill from Sothwest Airlines, AirTran, America West and several other companies opposing pension relief for US Airways and other airlines (including United). Apparently these airlines believe that the pension relief will simply let old-time, aged airlines gain a new lease on life and would be simply postponing the inevitable.

Be careful whom you pick as your friends.

Heck, that sounds like the management to me. Most carriers opposed the arming of pilots, but most pilots favored it. Don't hold the employees responsible for the sins of management.
