It is illegal to give dues money to a party or a candidate, and its not your money anymore when your dues go to the IAM.
 
When you pay taxes can you tell the government how to spend it?

You can get a refund of the percentage of your union dues that does not go directly to representation, typically around 12-15%, though I am not familiar with the IAM numbers specifically

You can become a dues objector, but you lose the right to attend any meetings, as you are consider a non-member agency payer, you lose the right to vote in union elections and on the CBA.
 
Dues money cannot be used to give to a candidate or a party.
 
That is why the IAM has a PAC, the MNPL.
 
But the right wingers will still believe unions gives dues money to candidates and parties.
