Just remembered today is the 24th Anniversary of the PSA/USAir merger.

"Catch Our Smile!"

Wow, that went by fast. It's sad to look back at how the ccy crew dismantled that operation within a few years. I was PI, and besides CLT, there isn't much left of that either.

sad nd pathetic. but hey give it a few more yrs and the entire HP routing system be like the PSA and PI just a matter oftiming! afterall got the bimbos in tempe with lessons learned from ccy etc

PSA was the REAL LCC . We showed the REST how to do it with a SMILE ! WE took care of the CUSTOMER and EACH OTHER ! MERGERS SUCK !

Remember when we use to have a circus in the san hanger for the employees each year?

Hate to break it to anybody, but that smiling aircraft is one of the dumbest and ugliest aircraft I have ever seen.

Yes indeed mergers "suck" but they happen. No carrier's nitch remains unscathed after a merger. That's the whole idea. Everyone will reminisce of US Airways and what we were after we become All American Airways.

In the case of the US/PS merger, there was no overlap whatsoever. The intense competition on the West coast was not sustainable for US at the time, so they packed up and ran. Within a few years the only reminders of PSA were the 32 MD-80's.
In the case of US/PI, there were the issues of PIT/DAY, and BWI/PHL being on top of each other, and most of us knew that something was going to give in time. The SYR hub that was inherited from Empire was gone, along with the Florida Shuttle, which should have remained. As we all know, the CLT hub is still alive and well, and I believe that it will remain in tact even with another merger. Other than ATL, there are no other major hubs in that region of the country. In another instance there was a flood of Hubs in one area with PIT, CVG, DAY, CLE, DTW,and ORD.

I didn't expect any better from you. Little do you know that the PSA Smile was a great marketing tool in its day.
Many Airlines had catchy marketing slogans back then, and they worked.
Just some additional industry ignorance rearing its ugly head...

Hey Signals...
Incoming "personal for" traffic for you... "Camptown ladies sing this song..."

If you're really signals, you'll know what that means.

I didn't know an opinion would widen wounds, but so be it. I find B6's Red Sox aircraft a bit inappropriate for NYS. Am I going to get heat from fans.

I just gave my opinion. I find a lot of US aircraft awesome, but that particular aircraft looks like a dumb smiling albatros.
