$64 million net loss for October excluding reorg items

No kidding. Who has made money in BK? Why do you all hate DL and the employees so much? I don't get it or understand. And as far as US Airways saving DL, The only thing that U wants is our Intl. routes and the ATL hub, and I suppose getting rid of a competitor. But do you all REALLY think this will get rid of competition? Who will swoop in and fill the void? Thats right, the brown turd in the sky. I have nothing against any of the U employees, but they are a big low cost domestic carrier and Intl. is needed bad..and quick.
I really dont think US wants your ATL hub. We are quite happy in CLT.

However, I do see US wanting your entire JFK operation.

Notice too that Northwest made a profit in October and Delta didn't. Probably a direct result of Delta adding too much capacity internationally. Does fine in May-Aug, but loses money the rest of the year.
I've mentioned that before. It will be interesting to see how all of these fourth-tier European routes will be doing over the next four-six months.

Looks like lots of good non-rev opportunities coming up, if you want to visit Bulgaria in the winter.

Apparently, some people on USAviation have not been briefed on DL's plan. Perhaps the plan didn't forecast profits in every month.... like DL posted this summer.

Of course, let's look back and see how US and UA did at this point in their bankruptcies - in US' case, they weren't doing this well even on the 2nd one.

"Our plan is working and we have tremendous, hard-won confidence in it.''

Notice that cash continues to grow.
US Airways and Delta are each courting the nine-member creditor committee because it will negotiate terms of any plan to exit bankruptcy. The panel also heard from Delta on its plan to emerge from Chapter 11 next year as a standalone carrier.

``It's ultimately the creditors of Delta who have got to make the decision,'' said Douglas Baird, a University of Chicago bankruptcy-law professor. ``The obligation on the part of Delta is to make sure information is fairly presented to them.''

Easy Vikedog.

FWAAA does'nt HATE DL. FWAAA is 99% a "facts man"

Obviously these can't be "quiet times" for DL employees.
(just ask the people at US Air about the Insecurities of BK's. UA and NW as well)

For the Legacy's(and US/HP are NOT legacy's in the truest sence)....Consolidation IS (for the most part) Needed.

I'm not Impressed with UAL's Glenn Tilton,..BUT...Mr. Tilton's strenght IS in reorganization, ..WHICH...is why he Actively supports consolidation, even for a VERY large company like United.

Look at Southwest and Air Tran. Even they are looking to "bulk up", which may be a form of consolidation/growing.

CO is on record as considering consolidation.

The only two...real "reclusive" airlines are AA and NW, but in NW's case, they too realize that they are in BK, and therefore may not be able to control their destiny.

Lets look at the "scorecard" for a moment. Six legacy's.
Of the Six, two are ACTIVE consolidators...US, and UA.
US has selected DL. If approved, UA(if they don't make a higher offer for DL) will act with LIGHTNING speed to gobble up CO !!!!!.........From there on, it gets tricky.
Does AA want the headache of swallowing all of NW ??

NW, being the quirky recluse that they have ALWAYS been, will (most likely) "try" to go it alone.(AA "can" go it alone). If NW can't go it alone, THEN you'll see Arpey(AA) and Steenland(NW), "getting together" for dinner, and a few brews.

Time will tell.
