747 Bagram Airbase

Thread started earlier over on the Cargo board:

Tragic. I have many old honorable 444 members who work as cargo tech reps. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and freinds of the 7 crew members who lost their life.

First thought is a cookie sheet letting loose with the accompanied CG shift and ensuing stall.

Same here.

I've seen reports that they were carrying vehicles out. If one of those broke loose, then...

For you or any other AMT's reading this, what about a trim issue/mis-rigging like what happened to Air Midwest in CLT?

From a blog. I cannot confirm any of this:

"The cargo flight N8-102 crew were heard on VHF air-band frequency reporting that some of the load of five heavy military vehicles in the cargo hold had shifted and the National Air Cargo Boeing 747-400 stalled. National Air Cargo Boeing 747-400 crashed and erupted into flames on impact. The crash site was near the end of the 11,849 ft long runway 03 within the perimeter of the Bagram airfield. All seven crew – ----------- - were killed on impact."

I removed the names.

No matter who's at fault, still a tragic loss for the families !

Reminds me of the freighter crash at MIA a few years back. Cargo was loaded incorrectly, putting the aircraft severely out of trim on rotation...
