A300 Maintenance Problems

Boeing 747 after being hit by a missle, oh that's right this was caused by defective wiring.
That's what the GOVT wants you to believe which I don't believe one ounce of it. There is no way the plane would vaporize like that if it was a wiring fault, it would of had to catch on fire first.

AA needs to replace those A300's ASAP. Just think if AA had ordered the 787 early enough to be fairly up in the line and it had been ontime they could have started replacing them fairly quickly.

No need to have already ordered the 787.

AA's agreement with Boeing includes a "front of the line" pass on any planes AA wants, including 787s. With but 15-18 months notice, AA can take delivery of any model it chooses (once the airplane is actually in production, of course).

Tail sections, like the rudder, should not produce uncommanded movements that cause the aircraft to roll over and dive into the ground. UNITED Boeing 737,USAIR Boeing 737, and COPA Airlines Boeing 737.

The whole tail sections did not fall off of those 737's......

nice try

What is the problem?

What is being done to correct the problem?

This all sounds like some playground rumor gone out-of-control

Being the junior man at JFK of course 90% of the year i have to fly Airbus. Of course our first day was blocked for a 14.30 hour duty day with a 0dark hundred sign in time(05.45). Once we got to MIA we found our aircraft was being taken out for a "spin" with pressurization issues. We finally got to our layover in SJU at about 20.45 with FAA minumum layover 8.00. In Feb, we had an issue when taking off from MIA-PAP I got a call from the captain saying they had a warning light saying the 4R door was open. We returned to MIA after about 10 min in flight and found out a spring to keep the door closed was broken. Two trips later an engine failure departing MIA-JFK. All on Airbus. These planes really have to go!!!!!

They sure did, after the airplane impacted the ground.

Gee, what do u expect to happen after an aircraft crashes into earth?

Hmm 587 lost tail section and engines fell off causing the aircraft to hit the earth nose first..

I suggest you start saying your goodbyes to the believed A300....16 getting grounded in September of this year and by september 2009 ALL GONE...

I will miss it though,,,,,,it truly was the overtime machine...

Let's not forget how marvelous th fuel system is on the A300....It couldn't pick up and separate water from the fuel even if you put a plumber in the fuel tank each trip...

If AA is parking 16, then I guess the reports over the past two or three weeks about AMR renegotiating return dates with its lessors might have more truth to it than not.

I only logged two or three segments on the AB6 as a customer, and September 2009 can't come close enough...

The A-300 has been a maintenance mess the past couple months. Flights running 6 to 9 hours late is not uncommon. Throw in any weather and crew rest delays and it just snow balls. The sooner we get rid of them the better.

There is a rumor out there that Airbus met with company officials about replacing the A300's with either the A330 or the not yet built A350....Can anyone substantiate this?

I don't work in the industry just a FF, but wasn't there a rumor flying around about this a few years back? I wouldn't be surprise if AA ordered A333 1 for 1 to replace the A300's, and use the 787's to replace the 767's.

Doh! I had forgotten about that, Thanks for correcting me.

I doubt you see anything replace the A300 for a while. I think the 757 is going to have to work for the time being. The 737 will be replacing some 757 flying in SJU this fall. SJU to PHL/BWI/CCS are some examples of new 737 flying thru SJU. This along with other 757 downgrades could free up some 757's to take over the A-300 flying that we have now. Oil would have to make a substantial drop for AA to order any new widebodies in the near future IMO

I'm thinkin the quick way to cure the A300 probs is to reinstate 8 terminated AMT's..

SIMPLE!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately i truly don't think the current A300 problems are because of the LGA terminations.. The A300 doesn't see LGA and nothing is "happening" there...

As for ordering new aircraft, I believe you will see new aircraft ordered one the contracts are all in place..
