SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- In a surprising move NWA places an order for six A380 aircraft.

Northwest Airlines (NWAC) is the first North American airline to order A380 aircraft. In a surprising moved NWA placed an order for six A380 aircraft. Northwest spokesperson, Mary Stannik, said "Northwest is ripe for this kind of order. These Airbus planes are going to enhance our Trans-Pacific network and enable us compete both on price and comfort with our main competitor United Airlines." According to NWA insiders the A380 planes will be delivered between 2008 and 2011.

Mike Boydd, Aviationplaning.com, said "I'm surprised NWA chose the whale jet. Evidently desperate times call for desperate measured."

Nice hoax from another website. Would have been pretty cool though. Maybe we can get UAL's old rope start whales from the desert as a consolation. cheers bigsky
