Good thing there wasn't a loader or a hi-lift truck in back. Could have caused some serious wing or engine damage, not to mention injuries...
 
Could have easily resulted in deaths had passengers been deplaning when the plane rolled back as well as injuries or death to ground crew. Lucky nothing like that happened.
 
Better get this out of the way now -- it's management's fault. If they wouldn't have taken the bonuses, there would have been money for chocks.

I was thinking more like the door would be replaced with a new one and plenty of cash leftover.

Fleet assigned to this gate not on the clock when this happened. Self parking has it's price AGAIN!

Its a good thing you know absolutely nothing about nothing......Mechanics dont push or park live flights at DFW,Our fine union gave that up years back........More savings... Oh wait wheres the door ooooopppppppss!!!

As a matter of fact, as I hear no ground crew was assigned to that gate. They utilized the new autoparking system....
Dont you think someone should be around to chock a 150 million dollar investment? So this doesnt happen...
 
Autoparking without *any* clerks?...

Aircraft wasn't under its own power, but if there were passengers onboard, then it's likely to be a NTSB investigation.

No. It's George Bush's fault. He hasn't been blamed for anything for at least 3 days. 😀

That is correct the {Auto Park} systems iis designed to park without clerks, I cannot tell how many times I have taxied a plane to the gate got out and chocked it myself and while there is no excuse for not setting the brakes the fact that the company has a system in place that allows for parking of a aircraft without ground help makes them atleast partilly responsible for this accident.

Then of course one would have to ask why do we do this, the answer lis that when the {auto Park} system shows a plane on the gate the pilots and f/a's are in whether the brakes are set or the door is open even if it takes 40 minutes to get a jet bridge on the plane.

All together now Money Money money money Money!!!!!

Thats the way it goes. This auto park system parks without anyone there..to save $$..and apparently the agents have to put the bridge on the plane in 2 minutes or less or they are put on an advisory for a "missed gate" I heard the gal that put the bridge on was grilled about why she had the bridge on without the plane chocked...they try to blame her. Then they try to blame the clerks. Maybe the pilots shouldnt bring the planes in earlier than scheduled...just a thought. Also heard that the Captain was at the door trying to be one of the first off.
