This just in kiddies, DL may make bid for US.

http://us.rd.yahoo.com/finance/external/nytimes/SIG=12k2gp1vh/*http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2012/01/27/delta-explores-possible-bid-for-us-airways/?partner=yahoofinance.

DL and US own the North - South cooridor of the East coast. The compitition between the two is strong. DL even said, during the hostile take over attempt of 2006, that there was no way the DOJ would approve this. Not so sure conditions have changed enough for that to change. It does seem to me that DL fears the strenght of a combined AA/US and there interest in US is not legitimate, but it is in there best interest to keep an AA/US hookup from happening.

Well, well, well, looks like I was right when I predicted this. Slot swap and WN targets under one roof. Let the good times roll! 😀

PS this belongs in the Delta or USeless forums. Just sayin'!

I disagree. Given the fact that your pitiful bankrupt company is in the direct crosshairs of a possible merger/acquisition between DL or US this topic discussion belongs right where it is. In the AA discussion room. Don't you get it? You're broke and vulnerable and despite what some hacks report, you have very little or no control over your eventual fate. Just pray you don't get carved up can keep your job. The AArogance over there is truly astounding!

Class repeat after me-SIGNALS DOES NOT WORK FOR ANY AIRLINE. HE IS AN OBSERVER WATCHING FROM OUTSIDE THE BOX!

As I also stated a merger between AA and Delta is better than a AA/US merger.

Well Mr. All-knowing, I'm detached from the airlines because I don't work for one, but He's just an observer watching from the outside, then there is a distinct possibility you nor your mouthpieces have any idea of what you're talking about on any front because you, like the rest of us, didn't even see the DL play for US on the radar. So how about you, Mr. Detached one, sit on the sidelines like the rest of us and wait and see what happens because none of us knows how this is gonna play out! And I mean none of us, attached or detached to an airline.

Do you really believe this sh&t? AA has 4.5 Billion dollars in cash some reports say that is now closer to 5 Billion today and you say their broke please. AA has deals worth billions of dollars on the table with GE and Boeing{both on the creditors committee} that might not become reality if we get merged with someone else, all three of the Unions set on the creditors committee there is no debter in possession and the big banks involved have been kicked to the front of the line as far as creditors go. So would you mind pointing out who DL or US is going to sale their plan to assuming we ever get to a point that competing offers are allowed in, and that is to say nothing of the fact that if AA did need money IAG would have way to much at stake to stand by and do nothing.

Face the fact that this is a BK of convenience, to address the labor issues and set the aircraft leasers up, so as the new planes arrive the old ones go away not to the desert where you pay leases and storage but away out the door. While I personally will suffer the loss of wages and benifits and possibly even my job, it is hard from a strictly business point of view not to respect the way they have set this thing up and the fact that they have you and many others actually believing thier broke is proof its a master stroke!

A DL AA merger would be a nightmare for UA . Once again UA would be forced to consider dancing with the UGLY girl . What the hell maybe UA should throw there hat in the ring for AA.

Yadda Yadda Yadda! Yes I "believe this sh&t!" You entered this BK with $30b in debts and $25b in assets. That's broke! Broke! You can talk all you want about your cash on hand, new planes, no DIP and so on and so on. You are a bankrupt carrier in a time when your competitors are relatively healthy. Your airline has to ask a judge for permission to take a piss let alone reject leases, confirm aircraft orders, and generally speaking, to run your company. That's broke! You're talking about satisfying creditors and making them happy instead of your passengers and employees. Why is that? Because you're in bankruptcy. Why are you there? Because you're broke! Your counting on your IAG sugar daddy to have your back if need be. Why? Because you're in bankruptcy and broke! You folks were too AArrogant and frankly, too stupid to file when you should have. And now that you've filed you're too AArrogant to recognize it for what it is. You're leaning on a $4b or $5b crutch that you use to make you feel better about yourselves and to make you feel more superior to other carriers who have gone that way before you. So what! With your cash burn you'd better hope you never need DIP. The very fact that you're boasting about not needing DIP at all doesn't tell me how strong you are. It tells me that you're in bankruptcy. And that you're BROKE! Hell yeah I believe that "sh&t!" I can't believe that you don't.

Call it a BK of convenience if you want, but there'll be nothing convenient to your colleagues who conveniently get kicked out the door because AA couldn't conveniently handle its business outside of the courts. Now why is that? They're broke! Get over yourself and humble up!

What I find amusing is that my comments are actually hitting a nerve with you more than they should. 😛

Yes, much like anyone else I am only giving my opinion and much like anyone else, I have an @$$#0!3

I am just going by the events with USeless Trailways over the years that I've been in this forum. Whatever the outcome, life goes on for me B)

Please answer the question assuming we get to a time that competing offers are allowed who is going to back a outside offer on the creditors committee based on the facts presented. AMR is not counting on anyone to do anything I simply pointed out that IAG/Oneworld has to much at stake to not provide funding in the very unlikely event it is needed.

Neither DL or US are going to buy AA, believe what you want, but the fact is the biggest companies in Aviation{GE, Boeing, Airbus etc} made longterm deals with a company that you think is vulnerable these deals where done less than a year ago do you not think they did due diligence can that be said about any of the other carriers? prior to their filings, it seems you hate AA I get it, I am not a fan either but the facts say this is not your daddys BK and it will end on AMR terms not anyone else's.

Hell alot of people in the know claim it was the AA deal that forced Boeing into the 737 Max do you think they do that for a carrier they thinks checking out I listen to the smart money and it says AA isn't going anywhere.

It is not unprecedented that a bankrupt carrier has pending a/c orders prior to their filing. And to answer your question, as I've always said no one knows how this BK filing will eventually play out. Not me. Not you. Time will tell. 🙂

I believe it is highly unprecedented that a carrier would be able to order 230 aircraft less than a year prior to BK on top of 60 previously ordered. and just so you know GE,Boeing,APA,ALPA and TWU spell majority of the creditors committee good luck trying to get one of them to signoff on a outside offer in the unlikely event one is ever allowed.

I'm not disputing the quantity of a/c ordered by a bankrupt carrier, I'm just saying that it is not unprecedented to have had a carrier in bankruptcy with pending orders on the books. US had a couple hundred A/B on order including 21 more A330s when we filed. The manufacturers will find a home for those wayward aircraft.
