AA luv flights

For just starting up the loads are doing pretty well. DAL-MCI doing the best. Even if we do lose money on the service we are still keeping our FF on AA. There is demand for these flights or some of the S80's would not be full. If everyone knew how many domestic routes do not make money they would have us pull out of alot of markets. One of AA's biggest selling points is our network. Altough you cant stay in business losing money on all your routes I think the backlash of the DAL service is overblown.

It would be interesting to see what the total number of passengers are on the DAL-MCI flights each day. Is AA, in fact, carrying the same number of people as in DFW-only days or are the total numbers (both raw number and load factor) up or down with the split-airport ops? Granted, a few weeks of operation do not fortell success of failure but it would be interesting to see the trend so far.

What do you think will happen when the triple-miles AAdvantage program ends? Will the loads stay up? I read in the DMN (?) of a person flying DAL->STL->DAL->SAT->DAL one day solely to rack up the extra credits. While he counts toward the revenue passenger total for that day, when he cashes in those miles, with AA have actually won anything?

(I don't claim to have intimate knowledge of the AAdvantage program so someone with that background might be able to enlighten me!)

Just like the free round trips a few years ago versus B6. The free round trips kept our pax off of B6 and brought more people into the AAdvantage program. Those free round trips had an experation date. I think thats really the only difference. If someone wants to fly around Texas all day to get miles I don't see how that hurts AA.

Also, reality is that in most FF programs, a great many of the miles accrued are never redeemed. The road warriors who have the most miles tend to hoard them so they can upgrade to F/C at every opportunity--no, we're not really losing revenue. Their companies no longer allow them to purchase F/C seats, but they do purchase higher-fare upgradeable coach tickets. If a F/C seat is available for them to upgrade to (not that common an occurrence these days  ), it's more than likely that the seat would have gone empty or occupied by a non-revenue passenger.
