What's new

AA service must really be getting bad....

That along with the smell of the toilets sent him over the edge.

Crew members take note, see how quickly someone can come all the way from M/C in to your galley and do something. In this case is was a nut who opened the door and took off down the slide. I have flown with so many people who are preoccupied with a book, people magazine or there telephone.

Good point.. I'm sure there will be alot of questions on this one.

Maybe it was the 'scent of a woman' .......some of our F/As smell pretty ripe.

Body-odor and cheap perfume..... a bad combination

Thats a pretty strong statement coming froma guy who goes by the name BARFBAG, although I can think of a few nastier bags, Barf is right there near the tops in smell.

Are you a working F/A?? If you are then you would of know that this F/A would of been in her jump-seat. Buckled up with her shoulder harness on. She would of had the intercom in her hand and she would of been looking down reading from her PA card all the FAA mandated PA's for arriving. She would of had a split second to see this guy. She was more then likely kicking and pushing him back from the pilots door while trying to get out of her shoulder harness and seat belt. So don't even try to blame this on a hard working F/A just doing her job. Walk in those shoes before you start sling the mud.

No one is blaming the "hard working " FA. But be real do you think anyone would still be reading an announcement as you are coming up to the gate in DFW? They would have had more than a split second if they werent caught up in a book or on the phone. Every year at EPT's we would strap in and do our evacuations. It takes a second to unbuckle and swim out of that.

After that if it had been me, and the galley door was open and the slide deploying, I have no problem saying Bye Bye and thanks for flying American.

They were NOT at the gate. They had to detach the slide before they could go to the gate. You are not under the gun with a emergence at EPT's. I had a friend almost run me over in a car when I laid my motorcycle down in front of him. He couldn't get out of the car to help me because he had forgotten how to unbuckle his seat belt. We were not there we don't know were that aircraft was on the tarmac. I just think you could be more support of the #1 F/A then bring up something that only a few do on the jump seat.

Yes they were just off the gate. Ten feet or ten miles, the slide would have to be detached before moving the plane.

You are right yet I can still unbuckle and swim out of it in a second.

Words escape me, if someone was unable to figure out how to undue their own seatbelt.

Using common logic and having read that the man was stopped by two rampers at the gate and that they arrived to the gate on time after having a mechanic remove the slide. If hey were not turning in to their gate they were at the one next door.

A few? Please who do you expect to believe that? Telephones, magazines, books, you name it. Its not just AA, I have seen the same on other carriers as well.

We got a HI6 message on this event, but of course it's gone now. It seems I recall the guy charged the cockpit door, the FA called the captain who got on the PA asking passengers to help subdue him. Many passengers responded, including the guy's mother. He apparently managed to open the door and get out before anyone could stop him.

Any other FA's recall this message?
