Air Canada Terminal Deal

This deal is complete crap! Air Canada is dying, and WestJet is clearly the step in the right direction. Air Canada reports that they would further loose money if they did not get exclusive rights to the entire new terminal in the GTA, however WestJet remains profitable no matter what.

Air Canada is a joke.
 
Something not mentioned is that these Gates were not exclusive to westjet. Air Canada didn't want the gates, and had no problem with any other airline using those 6 gates.... that is until they found out about WJA getting access to them

In 1971 Southwest Airlines started up with flights bewtween Dallas, Huston and San Antonio. Because Braniff (long gone and American (almost gone) opposed the upstart airline they lobbied the Governor (or Senator) from Texas to pass a law that SWA could not fly into Dallas-Fort Worth Airport and must use the almost deserted Love Field Airport, thereby missing connection to other airlines and having to put up with a run-down terminal as all the big guys had moved to DFW. The law is named after the politicial who I think was Jim Kerr or something like that prohibiting SWA from using DFW.

Update to today Braniff is long-gone, AA is in financial trouble and SWA is doing just fine. Oh, and Love Field is a short drive from downtown Dallas (vs 45 to DFW), has a refurbished terminal, lots of MROs and lots of PAX traffic. :up: :up:
 
Apparently AC's new schedule that shows them busy enough to warrant all 14 gates is physically impossible to fly. Given the regular amount of non-AC traffic, if AC were to add that many flights, there isn't enough runway access time to handle that many flights. :blink:
 
When Big Red gets "ALL" of the gates, there won't be any other traffic. 🙁
 
even if AC wins the battle, they can't populate all 14 gates forever... they gotta come out of their protective cover soon...
