Airbus sweetens airplane deal with American Airlines

Where on earth are you getting this information? First of all AA new paint scheme is light grey and white, not "aluminum" paint. You keep refering to things as "fact" yet offer no supporting info. So here are the facts as they are. AA is taking delivery of it's first A320 this year. The Mobile site won't start delivering till 20126.

Doubt they will still be building A-320 's in 20126, but they may still be flying DC-3s!

From what I've seen, the narrowbody Airbus has about the same amount of composite parts as the current 737; the entire tail assembly and wingbox of AA's 738s are painted (just like the same parts on the 757s, 767s and 777s as well as the MD-80). The last AA plane I remember that was mostly aluminum skinned (with no composite sections) was the 727. The fuselage tube of the A320 series could be shiny just like the current AA 738s except that AA is changing to a painted livery (absolutely required for the 787).

DC-10

You're right - the DC-10 was the last AA plane produced without the composite parts. The 727, however, was the last AA plane flying without composites, as the DC-10s were all put down before the last 727s were grounded.

Airbus HAS to paint their aircraft, they do not have the option to deliver aircraft unpainted. This is because they use aluminum that is UNCLADDED, which would cause it to corrode. Boeing delivers aircraft to AA with cladded aluminum, which can remain unpainted.

BTW, just because a portion of the aircraft is painted, it doesn't mean it is made of composite. For example, the tail of an MD-80 is principally aluminum. It is painted for one of several reasons, (extra corrosion protection, minor damage protection, etc.)

Wikipedia, there's your problem. No where did it say the fuselage is made from composite, which it is not.

I also stated that I got that information from a source previous to Wikipedia. Your the one that brought the fusalage up in post #7. I never even mentioned fusalage until post #11 and that was qouting Wikipedia which I admited was not a credible source.

I'm just wondering why you even started this thread. Most of the claims you made have turned out to be incorrect.

I got to go with wikepedia on this one, you just fix them so what do you know? I'm sure management would agree🙂........kidding, I jest......just having some sarcastic fun🙂

Cheers,
777 / 767 / 757

No AA mechanic fixes an aircraft we have not taken delivery of.

"In the July 2011 order, American and Airbus said American would buy 130 airplanes from the current Airbus A320 family through 2017, and 130 of the next-generation A320neo airplanes beginning in 2017."

Are these the aircraft to be built in Alabama?

It is not scaremongering. It is a fact France would not allow Airbus to use the "aluminum" paint because it violated their EPA laws. It is also a fact those aircraft will be painted here in the United States. The fact the issue even came up implies that Airbus originally wanted to manufacture in France but were denied.
What?

Aluminum paint?

They were denied the ability to manufacture the aircraft in France?

Really, now.
