What's new

Alpa Beware !

Heck, dell, the technology pretty much exists to have ATC fly the planes (at least the newer designs). Only 3 problems - cost to put the technology in place, getting the plane to and from the gate, and having someone to blame when things go wrong.....

Ok, while I'm not ready to join the ranks of the "Apollo Mission Deniers," I just don't believe that article. I was left with the fundamental unanswered question: why does it care? Talk about the ultimate 'where's the cheese' question. THERE IS NO GOUDA!

At least it would take BRAIN cells to replace the pilots. I think that to replace management they'd have to get the cells from a little lower on the fuselage!

I read this in the local Pittsburgh paper:

"US Airways expects the bankruptcy judge to rule Monday on separate
agreements the airline reached this week with retiree committees that would
allow the airline to terminate medical and dental coverage for certain
retirees, excluding retired pilots. They would be able to buy into group
coverage allowed by COBRA, a federal law, and may qualify for a new tax
credit."

Why is the pilot group excluded?..............Thanks...........

It's likely too good a deal to let the pilots have it. They probably figure they can get a lot more out of the pilots.

And they're right.

From my reading of the agreement, because we gave up more retiree medical benefits in our agreement than the retiree comittee did. So our guys and gals don't get what everyone else is.

Thanks for the replies. I was just wondering. I don't know who to feel sorrier for, the guys losing their jobs or the guys left behind.

--Then again or the retirees.
