ALPA MEC CODE-A-PHONE UPDATE - February 19, 2003
This is Roy Freundlich with a US Airways MEC update for Wednesday, February 19, with one new item:
The MEC convened its special meeting in Arlington today and received pension issue updates from MEC’s legal and financial advisors, the R&I Committee, and the Negotiating Committee in closed session. Much of the discussion centered on ALPA’s legal objection to Company’s motion to distress terminate the pilots pension plan. As announced yesterday the hearing for this motion has been rescheduled by the court for Friday, February 21, at 9:30 a.m. at the US Bankruptcy Court in Alexandria Va.
The MEC also postponed agenda item one of the meeting, the motion to reconsider AI 02-226, Future Stock Distribution, until the 2003 first quarter meeting scheduled at the end of March.
The MEC will reconvene the meeting tomorrow at 9 a.m. at the Key Bridge Marriott. The telephone number for transportation information is 703-524-6400. Please be advised that portions of the meeting will be in closed session.
Please remember we have 1,827 pilots on furlough.
