Finally, the tide has reached the point of CrewPASS roadblocks being overcome. (ie: cost issues) While many unions have come forward to support the effort, and some have even falsely claimed credit, ALPA deserves accolades for not only developing CrewPASS but relentlessly lobbying for it's implementation. With the advent of recent intrusive screening by the TSA of trusted crew members who lock themselves in the cockpits of potential weapons of mass destruction, this latest victory couldn't have come at a better time.

ALPA has always carried a lot of influence on Capitol Hill. Try as they might, non AFL-CIO labor unions just don't have the horsepower/respect to garner anything but token acknowledgment from lawmakers.

Let's be clear that the American public is more than fed up with the degree to which the TSA has gone for airport security.

It never made sense to throw crewmembers into the same mix of security that other people are in as long as there are valid credentials presented.

Removing the pilots from the mix might help one group of people but in the overall scope of what is going on against the TSA they will have to do a whole lot more backpedaling.

Exactly. When cleary said he was in Washington meeting with TSA Officials he forgot to mention the meeting was at the security checkpoint in DCA with the rest of the pax. Not nearly as impressive as he would have you believe !!

Then you didn't see the video with him and the senators. Pretty impressive. Mike is an outstanding speaker. The APA guy Greg Overton did an awesome job too!

That seems to be a recurring underlying theme. Some people always have a bigger opinion of themselves than deserved. There's no convincing them otherwise. So trying to show them the light is a waste of bandwidth.

ALPA finally got the traction they needed to push the ball across the goal line. It's been a long time coming, but it looks like CrewPASS has the green light at last.

They don't. Those players were never at the table. Just because a person endorses something doesn't mean they had anything to do with the success. There are many who will try to ride ALPA's coattails and claim some credit. Anyone who can read will know the truth.

At Least there is still ONE union out there that actually DOES something for the Professional Pilot. Unlike the other impotent blowhards, ALPA actually gets the job done.

The sad part was the fact ALPA wanted to actually PAY for pilots to bypass it! Unbelievable! USAPA and Cleary did the trick along with APA. That , and the fact SULLY was calling Pistole was the final straw. Sully carries more weight that ALPA or any other organization, and he teamed with Cleary to make it go.

You obviously don't watch the news. Chesley Sullengerger carries so much more weight with the American Public than Prater! USAPA and Sullenberger had Pistole's ear the entire time. Sullenberger did an incredible job working with Mike Cleary to make this happen. Ask anybody on the street who Prater is, and you will get a blank look. Try that with Sully. He had everybodys attention in Congress on this and they worked with him. Flight time rules next!
