Help me out here...I guess that America West doesn't exist anymore? If it does, is it now in BK? Is it possible for the new company to shed some additional debt or is the BK process past that point.

The bk is closed and no more changes can be made on the companys side. Only others can file objections. I beleive that was over today too.

America West merged with a subsidiary of USAir and was not the surviving corp, so it has disappeared. Poof. That's what happens when two corporations merge.

US Airways is no longer in BK nor is America West. In fact, as of today AWA no longer exists as a company. The "New" US Airways was born today and is not in BK. At least not yet!! <_<
