An Embarassing Airline

Effective April 1, US will be the first airline with in-flight refueling. DoUgIe Parker contracted with the US Air Force to Lease/Rent 4 KC-135's. This will enable to fly many more jets to the West Coast, and can offer some extended RJ service from cities such as MDT-LAS, ORF-SAN, CHS-SFO all with the luxurious CR9 RJ.

Hmm, now all they have to figure out is how to suck the pax in and out of the planes with their bags without landing.

Give the passengers parachutes. Baggage, US will get it to you on your return home trip.

I got real half-and-half with my coffee on a US 737 today. However, the seats are still six inches too short, so it's a wash.

I can only surmise that Tempe did not want Sabre because they have decided they didn't want to invest in training that would bring the west in the real world. IT has been working supposedly 24/7 to solve these "computer glitches". If that's true why haven't things improved instead of getting worse?

Why is this airline taking huge leaps backwards, QIK (yeah Right) is terrible its a real small airine system, it does not work interntional but the cactus monkeys probably did not know we flew to europe, no OAL availability in the system or very limited.. Bring back Sabre.. Whats next...

. . . I suspect it's only a matter of time until the public outcry provokes government intervention

The last thing I want to see is political whores in Congress stepping into the aviation quagmire.

Not neccessary......if your airline happens to have one or two of them in their backpocket it could be very advantageous.

What has Tempe done to our airline...what was happening at the CLT tkt ctr at midnight last night was so sad.
Went to pick up my son at the airport last night and saw a very sad sight at the US tkt ctr...approx 150-200 people standing in line waiting for assistance. It looked like Black Wednesday!
Oh, for the days of quiet Sat nights when the most you had to deal with was a tkt reissue...
I don't know how this problem gets resolved, but Tempe needs to get some "outside" IT help, that is painfully clear, but thats' not likely to happen, they only pay the minimums for IT positions and get the same...

What a joke last night must have been. Glad I was not there. According to nbc6 it is very bad here this morn. Oh by the way I posted just a very quick trip report over on the DL forum you may want to add something.
P.S. DL flights on time without a hitch.

According to the NY news, DL took just as long of delays if not more then JetBlue did during the storms. Average takeoff time for DL was 9 hours.

I agree this place sucks A-West is running this place into the ground.
The old US was running itself into the ground, and don't forget that! Doug brought some life back into the company and made people feel more secure about their job.

Challenges??? Sure thing, not perfect by any means but better than the alternative.

There is no doubt that the "old" US management was running a fantastic airline into the ground but Tempe ranks right up there with them too! As far as Doug bringing some "life" back into the company.....I don't see that either. As a front line employee I've gotta say I grow more and more embarrassed to go to work everyday.....and it hasn't just been the SHARES migration, that's just an additional problem when thrown in with ALL the terrible migration planning that has been coming from Tempe. When the merger was announced and Dougie was made out to be this so-called "boy wonder" of the industry, I was excited for our future....finally! But quite honestly now I really have a lot of doubts that Doug and his co-horts out in Tempe really know what they are doing. I won't even list all the mistakes that have been made in the past several months because we all know what they are from reconfigurations to stranded passengers. I listen to comments from passengers on a daily basis and 90% of them are no good. From my perspective, this merger looks like it has had no planning at all! I STILL feel like we're (USAirways) far from being out of the woods....almost like we are STILL operating under bankruptcy and our future is sketchy at best. How long can we continue on a path of customer disatisfaction and lack of customer appreciation only here to make a buck theory? Sure cramming more seats on airplanes and stripping this airline down to the bare bones will save some money, but that's no smart business plan for the future! B)

The bottom line is that it's all about the bottom line. As long as profits keep going north, Doug and his team will think they're doing a terrific job. The minute profits start to slip, they may think otherwise. The question is, will they attribute lower profits (or losses) to inneffective management....or will they continue to blame the customer who would prefer to get a free upgrade (or upgrade with miles) than to pay $2,000 for an F ticket?
