Cute comment but meaningless as usual.
Phoenix is the 5th largest city in the country and not shrinking like the rust belt cities are! Of the top 10 there are only three old rust belt cities NY, PHL and CHI and they are all contracting! The 90's and early 2000s when palces like PIT and CLE seemed to be revived was only a blimp on the RADAR as they all continue to shrink. Phoenix is way more viable now and well into the future then PIT.

Speaking of meaningless and may I add stupid comments, Pittsburgh is the most livable city in the country and has been in the top five for many years. PHX is at or near the bottom and fallllling. P.S. stay where ever you are we dont need "usdesirables" like you as a matter of fact I bet PHX would climb way up if you moved 500 miles due south. austa la vista looser.

It's no secret that the airport is bigger than what a city of it's size needs. It was wanted, it was built so now it is what it is. BUT what is interesting is that all of the local traffic US claimed wasn't there seems to have risen due to a little known airline called Southwest and to a lesser degree other carriers. The local traffic though not the O&D of bigger cities was there the whole time. It was nice to have US hub at Pittsburgh as it gave the locals many nonstop destinations but at what fare? So, though passengers can't get to all of the destinations nonstop when US hubbed and suppressed the masses with higher fares they seem to get by just fine. Back to the topic of this thread though.....it's a truly ridiculous idea and can't believe they even had the man berries to push forward with the plan.
