Hopefully you all read the newspapers and realize there are alot of people unemployed and struggling to get by. If our company does not make it, you dont get a check. IMO more threads should post ways to increase efficiency and reduce waste then complaining about wearing a safety vest. Im just saying...

You are free to propose whatever you want to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

I propose an immediate wage freeze for managers, with a 10% pay cut for any manager earning more than $60,000 a year, a 15% pay cut for any manager making more than $80,000 a year, and a 25% pay cut for any manager making more than $150,000 a year. Pay cuts to be reinstated when the company posts a net profit for four consecutive quarters.

And welcome to the forum.

So you think that the airline would prosper under worse management? Is your future made more secure by taking a few bucks out of the pockets of managers?

Suppose instead of penalizing one to benefit another, both sides worked together to benefit themselves.

Should profit sharing be the bulk of everyones compensation?

I don't know where you work but we don't have managers making that kinda jack certianly not in any meanigful numbers.

West managers were never brought to parity with their east counterparts. East managers do make much more lucre.

sup new guy!

i'm thankfull to have a job ... here in arizona the job market is just horrible , horrible ...

Looks like your going to get your wish dog wonder .... it's only a matter of time before the company freezes wages on all levels , and for once i think i agree with you .. it's time the VP'S ( what count are we up to now ?97 ) take a pay cut from making 150 thousand a year ...

I am thankful to have my job. I get to exercise my passion for "driving buses" and get paid for it. What's more, I get to work with some really amazing people...that's the best part. I am also grateful that I don't have to directly deal with the "intelligentsia" in Tempe on a regular basis.

That being said, it does not change the fact that if LCC disappeared tomorrow I would have the wherewithal to move on and not at all be concerned. If that bridge presents itself, I will cross it then. And I am perfectly willing to do so. And I am not willing to sell my soul to avoid that bridge and hang on to this job at all costs. It's a very liberating stance; I recommend it highly.

Perhaps that's the problem?????

You hire cheap you get cheap results.

I saw some of the salaries paid to non union folks with similar positions as mine and it's not a 10% difference it's more like 25% LESS at US Airways and that was the Arlington version.

Read some of the threads regarding stuff like Swenska instead of Svenska for the Swedish language. Sloppy work all over the place.

Shows that sometimes the old adage is true that you get what you pay for.

I totally agree, there is sloppy work all over the place.. especially when seasoned ramp agents fail to load bags on a flight. I agree, there is sloppy work when seasoned gate agents take 1 and 2 min delays because they have no sense of urgency.. Yes there is sloppy work all over the place.. And I am going out on a limb to say we all know the person in our stations that should have retired 5 or 10 years ago - they are miserable, hate their job, spread bad news and bad mouth the company every chance they can. Those are also the ones that need to be forced out. If you cannot step up in todays marketplace, you need to get out of the way.

Improving the airline starts with each and everyone of us. So next time your in a conversation with a co-worker about how things use to be and how terrible they are now.. why dont you opt for a different path.

If someone is complaining about this place and how good things used to be, are they not just wishing for the best for our customers and for our fellow employees? I think you can be thankful to have a job and at the same time, complain about how this place has fallen into the pits. In the long run, a better run airline is best for our customers and our fellow employees; case in point Southwest.

Apparently so. "Those are also the ones that need to be forced out." It seems that once the Koolaide Party Purges take place...all will be well.

One point I can easily agree with though = "If you cannot step up in today's marketplace, you need to get out of the way." Should this concept EVER be applied to the "management team"...there might be some real, actual hope for the operation's survival.

Most likely I'm one that should've retired. If US would make that possible I would be the happiest person on earth. When I'm at work I do the best I can regardless of my personal opinion.

Your last sentence applies to US management. Are you one of them ?

I think for alot of people including myself is that we want to take pride in our work and do so at a stand-up operational airline. LCC is the but of every joke out there and to say "be grateful you have a job" is not the way to look at things as ya there may be a job now but not at the rate this airline is going. And I too agree that being usually last in customer complaints Doug Parker is right on track with "focusing too much on the customer." Shouldn't the company be celebrating our last place finishes with that thought process?
