Attention all US Airways Pilots With Capped Retirement From PBGC

Some do, you can exchange unused sick time to extend healthcare after retirement.

Every single pilot that had his/her PBGC pension capped at $37,500 needs to call his/her Senator and demand that all public sector pensions are capped the same as yours .. before any changes are made to your SS and Medicare! You need to hurry!

In fact every single employee at US Airways needs to call and demand this before your SS and Medicare changes.

Who is the senator you contacted?

My healthcare isn't much better than most airline employees. But it is better than state workers.

CWA/agents are responsible for paying 100% of the medical premium at age 65. At 65 retired employees and their dependents are not eligible to participate in or of have access to any post 65 medical plan through USAirways
CWA/agents may apply 38 sick hr pr month max 1400 hr valued at $9.50 hr to pre 65 retirement the company max payout is $361.00
Monthly contributions will be calculated as the total cost of the plan and level of coverage you elect less $361.00 the cost of the plans can increase
And we haven even brought up the pharmacy plan
And the fact that there is NO retirement dental coverage or a option for one
Again my point is not to bring the government sector employees down to the private sector but to raise the bar for all
Government employee’s better wakeup and vote for there jobs
It is a slippery slope all that is needed is a few union bussing people in the right place

You are really barking up the wrong tree, take the time to improve your wages and benefits, not at the expense of others, dont like it, go get a public sector job.

Or with way your tone is in your posts, just take a management job, you all ready sound like their mouthpiece and a poster child for the right.

Nope, solidly in the middle. Registered Independent .... I don't drink anybodies cool-lade. That stuff will kill you, I don't care who hands it to you!

So basically this is about early retirement? You would really freak out if you knew that cops and firefighters get full healthcare and benefits and can retire with 100% after 20 years of service in my state!

If it's the healthcare benefits, in the real world everybody qualifies for Medicare at 62, which is when most Of us can actually qualify for retirement. If you worked at another job, such as US, if you can get a public employee job if you work 10 years you will get the full health benefits. Oh wait remember I talked about a new tier 5 in my state? Now it's 12 years of service. Remember I mentioned a tier 6 the state wants to pass? I believe that will be 15 years of service.

If it makes you feel better, our dental is no longer covered at retirement.

You're right because your own kool-ade is doing a number on your brain. Maybe you should cry to your union and airline that are obviously trying to keep you down

Under the Ryan plan current Medicare enrollees will lose benefits and they will pay more for prescription drugs. Those under 55 as of Jan 1, 2012 however, really get the raw end of the deal. If you are aged 44 to 54, you better hope your retirement account can handle an additional $200,000 in out of pocket expenses to cover medical expenses. The Ryan Plan’s method for “saving money” is making you pay a lot more in the long run.

Public sector unaffected?

Have you worked and saved ... you can kiss it all good-by the first time you get really sick if you are not covered by a "public sector health-care plan"?

Great I'm 55! But that's your gov trying to save SS in some form. Full retirement was once at 65. I'm at 67 or 66 and a half for full retirement. People are living longer and that is why the claim is made. Eventually full retirement will go up. As warped as the government is, their way of thinking is that the early SS retirement should go up, too. Thus Medicare and everything else.

As far as the public sector not affected, benefit wise perhaps not...but my cost, deductible and co-pay have all gone up 120%. And that is the reality of it.

That's your government trying to save itself .... the one that you get your benefits from. When US Airways saved itself all pilot pension were capped at 37,500 under the PBGC .... even the ones that had already retired.
