Attention all US Airways Pilots With Capped Retirement From PBGC

That's your government trying to save itself .... the one that you get your benefits from. When US Airways saved itself all pilot pension were capped at 37,500 under the PBGC .... even the ones that had already retired.
So YOU are taking it out on public employees? Maybe the FEDS make more than 37,500, but most public employees on retirement isn't that much. Maybe 'the pilots' should pay their fair share of taxes since they are rich and the poor middle class has to pay their share like me! See I,too, can be sarcastic and target airline pilots who earn a decent wage for 20 something hours a work a week. Oh that's right, you aren't a pilot cause you couldn't cut it.

Must suck to be you, so bite me. 😛

Sigs,

Don't waste your time, he is basically blaming the Public Sector for his companies own problems...He is a troll from Tempe just deflecting the inability of mangement to run an airline....Now he'll probably come back and throw in our faces that they made a profit, but when it is broken down, it's probably the fees and the slave labor wages that made them money and nothing else....

Hey troll, I have one position open on my crew, come on and apply....I'll even let you stand around with a shovel in your hand watching people work and you'll get a pension.... 😛

But you're not a pilot. And if I were like you, I could say that pilots are rich and don't need a pension. After all, all pilots get UPS and FedEx pay. Since all public employees are equal, and you obviously read between your delusional lines, I'll play you.

My current 100% is $11000 a year. What's a pilot's 25%? Suddenly that early retirement doesn't in the public sector seems like squat.

Ironically, usa1, your avatar is your future replacement. Like the rest of us, we'll all retire at Bend Over, Indianus 😛

LD3, thanks for the advice but I love insulting the clueless idiots who are gluttons for punishment because their arguments can't hold water. B)

Ironically, usa1, your avatar is your future replacement.

Why do you think I choose it. History will show that a kiosk got my job and a "public sector union" got my private sector retirement benefits (SS-Medicare). Don't worry thought I'll find another job ... someone on the private side has to work until they're 80 and pay taxes so you can retire .... I've got your back!

And you're right, those Dam private sector pilots!!! The ones that have degrees, spent $200,000 on school and flying lessons to become qualified. They shouldn't get a penny more than you! Everything they worked for should be re-disturbed to YOU!

Sure are a lot of public sector folks on here ....... I guess they're here to laugh at us ...... 🙁

😀 😀 😀 Such bitterness and misinformation. Again you have no clue. It was your airline that went into BK, and that is what got you where you are. You should look up what happens when the public sector goes bankrupt. Employees have to continue to work with no pay until it is resolved, by the higher entity-local and county by state...state by feds. A case in NY in the 80s saw workers working without a paycheck for over 2 months. Again, you are not a pilot. Just a hack who wants to spew your venom in the public sector direction. Blame USeless Airways for your troubles and seek some mental health, because I couldn't care less about your destiny.

Many college educated individuals couldn't hack it in their fields and work in the public sector. Including your pilots 😛

Btw, SS-Medicare is effecting everybody, including me, and I blame the airline industry, because your rich and don't really need it! 🙄

Actually that is due to people living longer. Any kid knows that.

Also they take 3 years from your age and years of service. The Soaring Eagles (retired pilots) have a lawsuit in progress over this and 10 or 12 other issues with the pbgc. These lawsuits are looking pretty good and it will be an interesting year.

Bob
You think you guys will get back your 1 million-dollars+ lump sum pay outs

I have under 20 and until you reach twenty years your retirement doesn't give you squat.
I guess you enter the government sector late in life sounds like the system is setup for years of service

Untrue. As I explained previously, it depends on which category a given pilot falls into. For example, my PBGC payment with 100% spousal benefit if I die first is approximately $50K/year. If I had selected benefits for just my lifetime it would have been over $60K/year. Considering that my normal US retirement at age 60 would have been somewhere between $80K and $90K/year, it was a reduction but nothing like what you're talking about.

The worst hurt are those who didn't have the age or years I had when the pension was terminated and who will get the guaranteed maximum or less.

A little bit of extra spin on my part JIm. But I know you're with me on what IM trying to point out to everyone. When the money runs out in the private sector the *!*^# hits the fan. But when the government runs out the public sector just comes back to us for more and their life goes on uninterrupted.

Government over-site forced to much competition on this industry throughout the 80's and 90's. People are always blaming the CEO's but the truth is they had to play with the hand the government dealt them. The government wanted "cheap tickets". Well they got them, along with a busted, broken down industry, and responsibly for 80% of the industry's pensions via the PBGC. Plus we lost 40% of our pay and benefits in BK.

Now the folks in Washington have run the entire country in the ground to the tune of 14trillion dollars. Well, it's time for the #$*&! to hit the fan again. Will they run the private sector pensions through the same meat grinder they ran ours ..... hell no .... they are coming back to cut the private sectors SS and Medicare benefits.

All IM saying is to treat the public sector JUST LIKE US? .... Before you screw us again.

I have the answer to fixing SS, medicare, and pensions. We need to make it so our politicians from Senators, Congressman, presidents and vice presidents get what we get for medical care, SS, and have their pensions "guaranteed" by the pbgc. This idea that our politicians are an elite group and deserve more than the average citizen is baloney. When the government shuts down for lack of money then all must share the pain including the Washington elite and government workers.

Regards,

Bob
