Attention all US Airways Pilots With Capped Retirement From PBGC

Really? Do you interview these people to find out if they actually can afford what you are seeing them purchase, or do you make that determination through a prejudicial observation of their clothing or demeanor? Would Jesus stereotype?
No, not at all. When you know people personally and there is no attempt to keep secret their level of income, then there is no need for guessing or stereotyping. In my experience its not the lower-level income people who try to keep their financial condition a secret. Rather, most will tell just about anyone who will listen how hard it is to live on their wages (many with a cigarette in their hand of course). I also marvel at how many people will take a daily venture over to Starbucks on any income level. We don't do that in our family because we consider it to be just plain wasteful and an entirely unnecessary expense, except on a rare occasion.

If cut out every passage in the bible where Jesus says to help the poor, you would have a holes in the bible, there are hundreds of verses.

And society has lost sight, read the book "holes in the bible" it will open your eyes.
All it takes to read 'The Book' isThe Holy Bible and a good concordance. But if we want to get technical, Jesus came to show the Jews, chosen people, the error of their ways. He did not preach to gentiles, because, well, there was no Christianity at his time!

Ask Jesus, and keep in mind that we are flesh and bone!

signals, let me simplify this for you. If the US government was a family, they would be making $58,000 a year; they spend $75,000 a year and are $327,000 in credit card debt. These are the actual proportions of the federal budget and debt level that even you should be able to understand. When US Airways got in to the same financial situation our defined retirement plan was frozen, then taken over by the PBGC and capped far below what we thiought we should get. Why is the government any different. Are you better than us? Are the party animals in Washington better than us?

Just to set the record straight, I certainly don't begrudge any worker - public or private - for taking the compensation they're offered. I'll ask anyone here - If US offered you $500K/year, a pension that guaranteed $1 million/year, a blue-chip health plan that covered anything and everything with no out-of-pocket cost to you, etc, would you refuse?

Having said that, a day of reckoning is coming (and is here in various states/cities). Governments at every level have promised more than they find themselves able to afford. For a couple of decades, I've used myself as a prime example of the problem. The day is fast approaching when my two kids (adults now) will effectively be paying my SS and Medicare bill - a large burden that those of us who are older never experienced since there have been plenty of workers to pay the payroll taxes to fund each recipient's benefits.

Jim here's another scam .... a waste of your money, your kids money .... money that should be in the SS lock box.

When you dig into this one, it's just like the housing bubble .... can you say SCAM. 0% & 2% "government loans" that will never be paid back. A new pell grant entitlement program that's being handed out to anyone regardless of whether they have an IQ for higher education or not. 75 % of the degrees being handed out are liberal arts, pretty much useless. The schools are allowing students to skate the first two or three years, until they reap all the government money they can get their greedy hands on before turning up the heat academically .... forcing 2/3 of the students to drop out.

And the beneficiaries of this scam ..... college administrators, professors etc. Obama's friends from the land of academia 😛h34r:

The losers, you and I? 😀 On top of that they are teaching our kids to be "good little socialist".
