What are unions good for?
Having worked for both union & non-union companies, I like the non-union company much better.
Unions..
1. Reward employees largely based on 'seniority' .. This I really hate. Why? Because there are a bunch of folks out there that seem to feel like the company owes them something, they are lazy, unmotivated & honestly hurting the company more than helping it.
2. Unions always have to be the 'best' .. What? Company 'X' just got a **% pay increase we need that plus....
3. Unions were originally set-up to be a 'voice for the common worker', to provide better working coniditons, medical assistance, etc... Unions are not the 'voice' of the worker.. Yeah, everbody votes and usually it reads like 95% of company A workers voted to strike.. Blah, Blah.. But, when the chips are down, the elected board officals can override the 'VOTE'. It is all politics & not about the members.
4. Stirke pay is a joke.
5. Unions tend to be allot of hot air, yelling a heck of alot of smack BUT, when D-Day arrives 99.9% of the time they cave and sign the contract.
Again,
