B6 320's At San Salvador

Why the 320's at San Salvador? Charter? Maintenance?

From the TACA website.........

JetBlue, the most succesful low-cost carrier in the United States, which also defines itself as a service company and not just an airline, has also selected AEROMAN as its heavy maintenance service supplier. Based in John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, JetBlue´s A-320 aircrafts will fly to El Salvador during the first semester of 2005 to undergo "2C" Checks. This procedure is a specialized heavy maintenance with JetBlue´s specifications.

"JetBlue will sent from 23 to 26 aircrafts in 2005," explained Andrés García, Commercial Director for AEROMAN. He added "the most recent update on JetBlue´s schedule indicates that during the first two quarters of 2005 we will be working on one JetBlue, one America West, and one TACA aircraft simultaneously."

Yes, it is for maintenance. It is part of our global economy. Otherwise known as there is some guy in El Salvador who will do your job for $10 a day. Honestly I don't know what they pay their mechanics but it must be considerably less than in the US. I have heard Aeroman's shop rate is about half of the cheaper MRO's in the US. The trade off is their turn times are higher. As far as quality it would just be a guess. I've never seen any of their work.

I spoke with some folks from our QA department and they say the work is first rate. In fact they say the quality of the work is better than Air Canada (who does a good job).

What do you expect them to say?

How would you feel if JETBLUE started outsourcing pilots from EL SALVADOR?
Would they be first rate?

hey whats the big deal? at least those mechanics in San Salvador are probably documented citizens, unlike what that Chimp in the white house has in mind for the good ole USA!

So that must mean that WN isn't low-cost, or isn't a carrier, or isn't successful, or isn't in the United States...

Did Texas secede again?

Then I'll start a new career. This is a job not my life. You might do well to remember that.

Oh and another thing, myself and 2000 of my fellow pilots jobs were outsourced at my former employer. What do you call it when flying goes to the regionals at the expense of those at the mainline? Sounds like outsourcing to me. Thanks for the lecture though.

Based on what you guys are doing to the profession, its obvious you find the job disposable.

No, unlike you there is more to life. Your entire persona is about being a pilot. Take that way and you're nothing.

From someone who has never met me, thats a pretty ballsy statement. Even more ballsy is that it came from a B6 pilot. Who, known in this industry for their selection of being ball-less in general.
No, I take pride in my profession. I won't (baaaa) simply find something else (baaaaa) to do if someone attempts to merely bring foreign pilots to take my job.

B6 brought us the 100 seat captain job that pays less, and works more than the guy managing the shoe department at your local department store.

I completely understand why you think of the profession as now being disposable.

Yeah I bet your mailbox says Captain on it too.

Save your lectures for your copilots tough guy. I was an ALPA member for 10 years and even served on a few committees. I've paid assesments and got involved. In the end it didn't matter I still got furloughed. I'm not bitter I've enjoyed the ride and I have the best job in my career right now. I wouldn't expect you to understand, you would rather throw stones at others and blame your problems on someone else. Oh and by the way I didn't work for TWA. Get a life.

<chuckle> The only mailbox I have that says that is at the airport 😛

Who's throwing stones? I've only stated the truth about you finding the career, (which to you is just a job) as being disposable. You sound just like jblu320. jetBlue is the best thing that ever happened to you. Well, good for you. The pay and working conditions on the 190 is your baby. Its just a job afterall 🙄
