Back To The Judge

This is the only industry where the costs go up and the expense is passed to the employees  Do your job management and look for other ways to enhance revenue, rather than just taking it out of the employees hide each time.

One loses track. How many times have the mechanics and machinists taken pay cuts to date?

you fools. as long as you keep taking it, they'll keep turning to you to bail them out. It's obvious that there are structural problems w/ UA; management will continue to turn to the source that can provide the most - and obviously provide the least resistance. Come on, the owners of your eight jets are fighting harder than you are!

actually, you are... how much has your salary and benefits been cut in the past 3 years? come on, tell the truth.

My UAL peers (peers=all UAL employees) and I have taken tremendous pay, work rule cuts, layoffs, etc. When did I ever pretend that it was otherwise?

But to call me or others "fools" for recognizing the situation we're in and taking the steps necessary to bring our costs down to meet the bar set by our low cost competitors is just stupid. You're acting like one of those guys who comes on another airline's forum just to fan the flames of anger. There are many, many things that have happened and that currently are going on behind the scenes that an outsider such as yourself (and me sometimes) will never know about. And to imply that my union, or any of the other unions for that matter, are not providing any resistance because we're not on the front page of the Wall Street Journal or Yahoo! finance laying out detailed negotiating strategies to people such as yourself is irresponsible.

" This is endemic in AMERICAN corporate culture...period. Because it is EASY to do. It demonstrats the poor level of managerial skills that guide the industries of this country.

True. But for years the UAL pilots (along with the pilots at DL, AA, NW, US) berated the CO pilots for setting the bar very low. And remember CO lost massive amounts of money under Lorenzo's tenure and almost declared bankruptcy for a third time. So basically the CO pilots did what you are doing now. I am not here to fan the flames of anger but just to say when the AA, DL and NW pilots agree to work for less than what you will soon be giving UA in order to save their companies, you will have no right to berate them for lowering the bar.
