Boeing to reduce 777 production rate to 5/month in August, 2017

This will make two production cuts in 2017. The first is a cut from 8.3/month to 7/month in January, 2017.

Company has not said how many jobs will be cut, but has admitted that there will be a reduction in assembly jobs.

Not surprised. 777 orders over the last 5-10 years have largely been aimed at replacing 744's and older widebodies. That's more or less done, so now it's just growth airplanes, and growth seems to have hit a bit of a wall.
