Looks like we finished number 1 ontime for the big 9 in March again. Last in complaints and baggage though. Baggage had a major improvement over last year (6.66 vs 12.27). How does Southwest manage to loose 4.91 bags without interlining and most paxs not connecting?

First, how does Southwest NOT connect their own passengers? Do you know how many hubs they have?

Second, I guess I answered that above. They "lose" those bags when connecting through their hubs...or focus cities, if you will.

Our (US Airways) baggage numbers are disgraceful. Maybe we should try to get pasengers and BAGS to the destination, even if our ontime would suffer a little...But a lot of our problems are due Dash8 and RJ's, cannot carry the loads.

Hmmm, Can't be true, afterall, I thought the IAM painted the company with 'horns' on it and said "Company bad!"

Looks like your company came through and paid the IAM union dues again.

The facts are:
IAM takes money out
Company puts 'non negotiated' money in

regards,

Another 50 or 100.00?

me thinks is 50.00

what ever they throw my way****handsup*****

you must be an idiot to think a lot of the problem is with dashes and rjs.....60+ dashes and the only RJ's that cost trouble is ERJ .
and guess what its a smaller percentage of these flights that are weight restricted which is usually caused by weather .
Most baggage delays or from flight originated or connecting thru PHL and to a certain extent connected luggage from other airlines especially united .

so there

I know that the DASHes have a weight restriction alot. we have had a lot of them on our phl runs. it usually runs like 34pax and 37 bags.
and we usually have to leave a few bags off due to w/b issues.. this is due to Piedmont not wanting to keep the 200s or even buy a few 300s and 400q I do agree that the CRJs are better capapble to handl a lot of bags

why the f##c has this turned into a negative thread ?

not being negative just clarifying or giving another point of view.....but its not up to Piedmont to the type of ac they fly after all they are wholly owned and its Usairways group who owned the lease on them 200 dashes and who oks purchase or lease of equiptment

didn't phl get the memo about weight restrictions? If you can not get the bag on then you take the pax off?

I am proud of the hard work our airline has done for the last 5 months. That $250 eguals a day off for me for doing what I SHOULD do.

DP needs to exploit this even more.

Idiot or not... 😉

I have a lot of experience commuting from Central New York on the Dash8's and the RJ's, and I see and hear first hand the baggage problems being created.

And if you would travel to an outstation and talk to the locals, you'll hear about our baggage problems. I know of one who does quite a bit of extra $$$ delivering late baggage. Also, try to talk to people commuting from the outstations that are served by these forementioned aircraft types.

I'm not attacking the Dash8's or the RJ's themselves. Great crews on both, though thankfully Mesa is gone from our grounds 😉

Agree, PHL is a MAJOR problem, that being said, it is overserved by the Dash8 & RJ's, compared to other major hubs as a percentage of flights.

Would anyone use PHL as an Int'l gateway and not have their bags show up in Europe?
