from today's calalpa special mec update:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This afternoon, Continental Airlines announced the acquisition of two new
Boeing 777-200ER aircraft at a ceremony at George Bush Intercontinental
Airport. The addition of these two new aircraft will allow Continental to
continue plans for the expansion of long-range international routes.

I bet CAL could get a great deal on a few more 767-400's. Boeing really needs to keep that line going, pending a USAF tanker order.

But does CAL want any more 767-400s? I've never heard anything super great about them.

I am hopeing for about 6 to 10 more, with most being B777-300ERs. Just wishing on my behalf.

LK(Kellner) has stated that CAL is not interested in any more 764"s, and in fact declined the last 2 options they had on order. He feels thier value will plummet when the 787 arrives.

He's right, but there is the meanwhile to deal with. What will 757s on premiere routes do to CAL's reputation? (Maybe nothing; I guess CAL was the airline that proved 757s were good enough for transcon flights.)
