Camps - great, bad and weird

As someone has already mentioned alberta has some of the worst camps to find yourself working in....ah,the garden of Edra brings back some real bad memories as anyone that`s been there will atest too however I would like to thank a Associated crew that I had the great opportunity to meet up with in that particulair nasty place on a miserable rainy night. The guys just made it in before the weather went out...flew in in a Astar, the driver and wrench proceded to drag this huge blue spares box up to our tent.Once inside after getting settled in for the night my other buddy and I wondered what was up when the wrench was peaking out the door and told the driver the coast was clear and proceeded to lock the door on the tent. The driver then asked us if...if we would care for a drink. Not wanting to offend our new found friends we said a drink would be most appreciated.Upon opening the blue sparesbox we feasted our eyes on 48 cans of beer covered in crushed ice....A site to bring tears to the eye of anyone in the chopper world, let alone two guys that have been seating in that s...hole for a week swating blackflies and eating crap,no showers etc etc...a moment to remember.Again, thanks to that crew for a great night in a place no one should ever have to work!

Anyone remember EOL ( Jimmy''s Lagoon)when that twisted maniac Clairmont was in charge?
Everbody had to be in the shack at the airport from 0700 till 1800 even if you weren''t flying - not allowed to go back to camp for lunch ect ect.
John the engineer having everbody outside with signs judging all the landings.
Clairmont shooting a flaregun at a passing inoffensive fox and starting his very own forest fire.
Ah the good old days.
I won''t mention 381 and NBR2.

Worst camp was one about 90 miles north of Schefferville - Run by some Germans who had never - Never worked in Northern Canada.
Fortunately we had our 3*sleeping bags - These guys had stuff you wouldn''t give to your kids for a sleepover at the neighbour''s cottage. They actually came up to my armpit and you could see through them!!!
No wonder things went bad for them in Russia.

What about some of the "good camps"? There''s camps in Northen Quebec that could hardly be called "roughing it". 24 hour porn on every TV, frog legs fried in garlic butter for supper, endless supplies of maple syrup.....I recall many a basketball game on the full-size hardwood indoor courts in LG4, Post Montagnaise looked like something out of a sci-fi flick, and there wasn''t much you couldn''t buy from the stores.

I almost miss it (mostly the porn )
