Hi Guys and Gals.

Wonder if I might enlist some help on the CO side to see if you guys have cass at anyplace other than your hubs. Got to the LAS gate last night about 1030pm for the 1 am to IAH. Checked in and sat around until about 10 till one. As it was full, I inquired about paperwork and such and was informed that CO only has CASS at their hub gates, which is pretty useless. Is this true? Needless to say, I spent the night on the couch in LAS. Any information regarding this will be appreciated.

What is CASS?

Not being a CO pilot, I can't answer the OP's question, but for CTorM CASS is the system that allows airlines to verify the employment of other airlines pilots which is necessary for the OAL pilot to utilize the cockpit jumpseat.

Not true. We are a participating CASS airline. The new TSA procedures require a picture verification for offline pilots to occupy the actual cockpit jumpseat. Some of our outstations are still equipped with our old "green screen" computers, which are unable to display photos. Therefore, at those stations, offline pilots cannot occupy the actual jumpseat.... but do still have access to cabin seats via a jumpseat listing.... of course there is rarely space in the cabin these days. Most stations have the new screens, and can pull up pictures... but apparently LAS is one that hasn't upgraded yet. CAL management is taking their merry old time upgrading outstations, but it is being done. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Hope this helps.

Most out stations at CAL don't have the technology to access a digitized photo of OAL pilots. Fortunately, CAL management has not made acquiring this technology a priority. We have more important things to upgrade. Ensuring that OAL pilots get to ride in the cockpit is really one of the more superfluous items on the agenda.
