Any news on the safety video? Have they chosen the participants yet? I wonder how many people "applied'? And why did they want a resume?

Some folks I've heard through the grapevine sent in for it without using names (PHL F/As will probably know these people): the number one F/A on the sen list, the frequent poster here who speaks Spanish and wears a vest, the pretty girl who wore the dress in the uniform roadshow, the guy with the Justin Timberlake beard who wears a double breasted jacket, a female French lodo, the girl who looks like Vivica Fox, a very pretty redhead from NC... Hey, I do a lot of OPR! 🙂

Anyone else hear anything?

EMBFA,

Do you might know when the new safety video will debut? Have the trial new uniform FA's been around yet? There has been a mention of new uniform FA's modeling on select flights. Any news on that?

Dude, you have Kirby's cellphone number. Use it. Don't talk with the mushrooms (hired help) when you can speak with the guy in charge of the fertilizer. After all, you will be the guy with all the answers soon enough.

There's supposedly some people test wearing the uniforms out there somewhere, however I have not seen a single one. They are probably all out west rather than at the significantly larger part of the airline.

I want to say I heard early 2008 for the new safety video as they will be filming it in the fall according to the casting call thing. You would think it would be less costly to do an animated one like Aer Lingus or Virgin Atlantic.

I have seen a gate agent in CLT a few times with the skirt and light blue sweater set.

There is a DCA F/A wearing the zip-up dress. She looks really good in it.

The casting is determined by Tim Donelly. Betty will most likely be in it since the base manager put in a word for her.

I've worked with Brian Morgan while he was wearing the new uniform, Hmm how to describe what he was wearing without being negative or critical  ......well, you can't, it looked like he should be working in an ice cream parlor, just very dated looking. Those "heritage stripes" looked terrible on a long sleeve shirt! I know for a fact that shirt will hardly be worn at all! It was a T/A trip and most of the guys were in our "current" uniform worn with ties and jackets and I can honestly say that the "current" uniform looked FAR better than the new one! The current "navy" just stands out more crisp and clean looking. Hard to believe isn't it? I'm hoping that the other pieces for the guys will look much better!

With all respect to Brian, someone 275 lbs will not exactly compliment ANYTHING worn. We have 7500 f/a's with 7500 styles. I personally like the uniform. My choice for winter is the mock crew with the jacket. I hate ties, so this will work for me. In the summer I will pick and choose the ss shirt and carry the sweater in case I get cool on the ac.

I for one can't wait to burn these current uniforms.

I too agree that the mock crew and hopefully the ss shirts will look much more current and modern. The whole heritage stripe thing is kind of ridiculous looking....I think they could have been done a little more modern and professional looking....the heritage scarf that the women are getting is soo childlike or fisher price looking! They really should have just stuck to a modern looking uniform that can be worn FAR into the future.....lord knows how long this one will have to be worn!

Are the mocks going to flight attendants?

Remember all of the pieces aren't available to both groups (agents and flight attendants).

sky high states: Nope, but they better do a professional job! Remember the first inflight safety video on the 737-300, in 1986? It was entirely done by a flight attendant with acting skills. Then, they came up with another one in which flight attendants took turns doing certain segments. I cringed everytime the female F/A came on and overstated her S's. ie....for your SSSSSSSSSafety.

They should do several video's and let some employees/FF's vote on the BEST ONE.

only stating opinions.

I think only the ss polo is offered for agents only.

I had the chance to talk to Stan Herman. He told me the company gave him all he asked in material and fabric...no more shiny slacks. Stan had a huge challenge in that this was the first biz/casual uniform put out there to design. The uniform had to go from casual to dressy...not as easy as you would think. If you had a chance to go to a roadshow, you would had seen the details provided. For example...the shirt are MADE to wear without a tie. The collar and long sleeves and the heritage stripes and actually look good. It lets you know that you can wear without the tie...something our current shirts dont do. I do like the heritage tie. It is colorful and I like the background royal blue.

The basic navy color was lightened to give US a softer image. There are 2 different blue hues to choose from where accessories are concerned...royal and sky blue. I plan to mix and match or where color on color. I think you have to look at and actually FEEL the uniform. It is VERY well made and actually IS very professional looking. The heritage shirt is not many guys cup of tea, however I don't think an entire uniform can be judged on one shirt type. I think most guys that choose the tie look will look nice in the white shirt with the heritage tie. The stripe on the jacket is going to look more like a stripe and less like a ribbon.

For the more casual guy, the mock crew with sweater will look nice. I plan on getting two of each in both colors. AND, I actually LIKED the light weight casual jacket, but I warn you..you must have shoulders or you look frumpy.

What I DO like about this uniform is that you can mix and match as you choose. Also, overall there are few thing that have sloppy potentials...that being the shirts, which we all know is dependant upon the person. Brian is a great guy and probably will wear a more biz look. It would be nice if you could see someone in more varieties. Because I like the different blue colors, I'm in heaven. You will just have to try on the items and see what looks best on you.

As far as the scarfs. I love to ask the women and I must tell you they either LOVE them or HATE them...no in between. I actually like the airplane scarf. The kids will love it. Aren't WE just big kids on a plane?

So does anyone know what year flight attendents and agents will actually start wearing these new uniforms in any significant numbers ?

Thanks

Turtlenecks, skorts, and scarves with toy airplanes on them. I'm in hell. As always US Airways leads the pack to the bottom with it's employees gleefully participating.
