Charles Schumer strongly encourages jetBlue

Interesting. Wonder what jetBlue will tell the good Senator from New York? "Sure Senator Schumer, whatever you say" or "KISS JETBLUE'S ASS SENATOR, ."

No kidding. "Gaps" left by carriers pulling out are not really "gaps". They are pockets of unprofitability. It is idiotic to fill in voids of unprofitability just b/c a carrier has pulled out. These little stations don't seem to understand that.

Hey Chuckie, how much has B6 paid into your campaign??? This same scenario sounds familiar. Shumie seems to be promoting jetBlue as an almighty salvation!

JetBlue may add local flights

NEW WINDSOR - Discount airline JetBlue will consider expanding its service at Stewart International Airport in the wake of AirTran announcing it is pulling out of Stewart, according to U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer.

Schumer, D-N.Y., said he has received a commitment from JetBlue CEO Dave Barger that JetBlue will stay at Stewart and will consider adding routes to make up for the loss of AirTran.

"JetBlue and Stewart International Airport have been a perfect fit from the get-go," Schumer said in a prepared statement. "I am thrilled that JetBlue has reaffirmed its commitment to Stewart and agreed to consider expanding its low-cost air service."

AirTran, blaming high fuel costs, announced last week that it will stop serving Stewart on Sept. 3. AirTran's current Stewart service includes flights to and from Atlanta, Orlando and Tampa.

JetBlue came to Stewart in late 2006 and offers service to and from Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Puerto Rico.
