Commmercial Airband Radios

I heard,

that by the year 2009 the airband from 118.00-136.00

will go from am mode to digital.

it appears to me that all aircraft commercial airlines have to make the chamge. so the present am mode radios will no longer be good.

one rumor was the change will be complete by 2015..

is there any radios on the market already that does digital voice..i do not think the airport traffic controllers have the radio from NEXCOM as of yet..

can anyone varify any of the above???
