"""A subsidiary of the Singapo re-based Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd., Mobile Aerospace employs about 1,200. No one with the company returned a message seeking comment Tuesday.

US Air spokesman David Castelveter said the airline was pleased with the quality of the repair work done by Mobile Aerospace on the first aircraft.

"The plane is back in service, and we were more than satisfied," Castelveter said.

This is scary!!!!! I can not believe they feel that way when everyone knows how bad that plane was when it came back.

See http://www.al.com/search/index.ssf?/base/n...leregister?nmet to read the whole story.

Several emergency landings and numerous down time to fix it, yep they really care about our passengers and employees safety.

Needless to say I was shocked when I read this. I do not see how they could have been satisfied with this plane.

I caught that line as well as this one:

"our collective focus must be to meet the travel plans of our customers without interruption"

I guess the "more than satisfies" is purely PR - probably couldn't expect them to say "they screwed the first one, so we'll keep giving them more planes till they get it right". Of course they could have said nothing.

As for the quote above, it's a shame they weren't so concerned about our customers travel plans when they were parking all those planes.

Come on guys, Give management a break, You're asking them to do something that they just can't seem to do, (Tell the truth.)

I think Chaimes had no choice but to say this. Anything else would have been extremely bad PR (and saying nothing when asked also would have been bad PR).

Let us not forget this:

PITguy, I apologize for the delay. I haven't been online and just saw your note.

We are not going to outsource heavy maintenance in PIT or elsewhere. We never even proposed it. (Unlike UA which has proposed the outsourcing of heavy maintenance.)

We will pay all furlough pay as provided for in the contract.

We have no further plans to lay off more mechanics beyond what is published. With the new commitment to operate 279 a/c, we will need just about all the mechanics on the property to perform the maintenance we have scheduled, since our fleet plan anticipated retiring some planes that we will now be flying.

Finally, we are not trying to vendor maintenance with either Boeing or Airbus.

Guys ! In fairness i have been on MANY airplanes that had MAJOR problems after they cam e back from our in house over haul. Its one thing to be upset and play by the rules, its another to damage another companies reputation out of spite.

Sorry fliboi, our pilots test the plane before it leaves heavy, we don't release the plane with a major problem.

And the company is ruining itself, sorry if the truth hurts.

I never thought twice about the how the airplanes were maintained when I was with U; even the very geriatric BAC-111s never gave me a reason to worry. I thought our mechanics were top notch and on the ball.
Even the Eastern 757s with a little TLC (ok a lot) instilled confidence.

I can't say I would be too keen fly on an Airbus that has been D-checked in Alabama though after reading the horror stories about a/c 700. All to save a few $$$$.
It is really sad that management thinks so little of employees and passengers alike to cut corners like that.
Amazing too the PR spin the company put's on to say that they are satisified with the work done on the aircraft.

Thank you Fleazle, good post, it is an S-check for the Airbus, not a d though.

Gotcha...thanks 700;
I really feel for you guys with all of this mess. I think I was really meant to be a mechanic....hanger night during FA training was the highlight of those 6 weeks for me! Oh well; next life maybe.

Are you not a Flight Attendant??

Just how qualified are you to comment on Aircraft Mainetenance, procedures, and Airworthiness? Please provide some valid examples to back up your statements. Also how you consider Test Flights by our Pilots to be a "wash".

Thank You!
